Personally, I really really hate how Red Dead Redemption ends. You play as John Marston for the whole story and then he dies?!?? You then play as his son Jack, avenge John's death, and that's the end of the story. What are your thoughts about this?
i thought it was kind of symbolic for an outlaw to go down literally 'guns blazing'.
and i didn't realize it till the end, but it goes with the saying on the cover ' Outlaws to the End'. but i was sad and shocked afterwards, and it just never felt the same playing as Jack... goes to show how bonded you becomez to the character after going thru so many hours of gameplay with them =(
i loved the ending. i know because you become bonded to john that you want the nice happy ending, but that is what makes it such it good ending. when he died i was like 'why rockstar you f*cking c*nts'. but looking back its such i perfect ending, john dies a good man, not the outlaw he was.
I'll be honest, when faced with that army a small part of my brain was thinking "Mark everyone", so I tried saying to myself "This'll work, this'll work!" Then I got shot up.
Well f*ck.
I did appreciate how much work was put into that ending though, anyone remember The Stranger? He actually stands on John's future grave and tells him "This is a nice spot" or something along the lines of that.
In my opinion, the ending couldn't have been better. John went down taking as many with him as he could, sacrificing himself to save his family. And then, killing Ross as Jack just perfected it. Hearing "Deadman's Gun" in the credits nearly brought a tear to my eye, listening to the lyrics.

I have never noticed that. You're now tempting my curiosity to play RDR again.
I thought the ending was perfect. It's just what I expect from a Western. John has "redeemed" hisself of his past. I liked how the writers foreshadowed everything though!"Outlaws to the End" and the cutscene before the final mission. Jack was talking to John about flying machines, and how it'll turn men into angels. Then, how John was teasing Jack about how Jack will write a book called "The Day John Marston Shot No Longer" or something like that. I didn't think about it after I finished the game, but a week after. I'm like "Whoa, foreshadow ftw."
