Bomber (orbital bombing)
Meybe some defence platforms, drydocks, and resources like ore, uranium, laxinum stuff like that. Transport and the a pirate ship because transport is for landing and stuff not boarding. And a capital ship that your guy is on. medium cargo, colony ship (for colonizeing planets), Rockets (eirly ship with just a few men 12 at most that are armed) (good for takeing nearby planets/moons eirly game)

utterly over powered

umm... thats the best ship in the hopefully new game and can hardly manuver at all, plus is vaunerable to swarms of fighters

That thing with 6 AG lasers thats a planet destroyer class!

A "ONE SHOT BOOM!" ship is overpowered, I agree.
And besides, a combo of a troopship, cargo ship, and battlecruiser is also overpowering it.
Make the gun less powerful, choose one type of ship, then it would be reasonable.

A capital ship is a litteral man of war for the navy. Balanced and big!

well gotta remember this isnt just humans we're talking there are other races too ( hint: one of them is more barbarian a.k.a scrappy ships but overpowered, other very high techs, and more races on teh drawing board ^.^ )

and more variety, i'm talking generalized groups here, though i do appreciate the individual ideas.

heavy azz cannons can kill fast
very agile
looks and probably is held together by super glue and duck tape (epic non existent armor)
