The would be my choice. The way it can be used in any sentence. And just makes people stupid sometimes when they use it too much in a sentence.

The thing I like about the is that I find it much more necessary to use the than the other two. I can avoid the use of both of them easier than I can avoid the use of the. I might be kidding myself right now though. I suspect there may be something wrong with me right now.
