I just had to share this experience with my AG family. Feel free to share your own facepalm memories. Let's keep things flame free, though.
You know you live in a rural community of the South Eastern part of the US when you stop to buy gas and: #1 The Machine at the pump doesn't accept cash #2 There isn't a sign that tells you that #3 You go inside to pay and the people in front of you are confused as to which flavor of Chewing Tobacco to buy.
Let's break this down. It's close to dishonest when gas pumps aren't modern. It also makes me wonder just which century the the tank holding the gas below ground, was built? You see, if there was a sign saying that This Is Not A Cash Pump then those of us cardless people could drive on and be on our way. Without the sign, you could be standing out in the storm waiting for,... nothing. Maybe I'm spoiled? I demand better service and I usually get it, without having to say a word but hello. In the South, we still pride ourselves with giving generous portions of gentile hospitality. It galls me when community, or suburban convenience stores waste my time! That negates the term convenience.
As for my third and final gripe. How retarded are you when you stand inside the store and can't decide which flavor of chewing tobacco to select? If you're over the age limit to buy it then you've already tried it! These kids were maybe 18(ish)? For The love of your mother, don't buy chewing tobacco if you've never tried it! You're buying a bag of leaves, not gum! Are you a human or a horse?
