your a commander in WW-2 you will start out commanding a squad or two until you reach a whole army under your control!
there will be many types of units you will be able to command
you will not win if you just say "send in my troops to attack" you might win if you say "send in my troops the riflemen to make a diversion while the sappers go around back to blow a hole in the wall"
try and be as detailed with your orders as possible

I shout "Take Cover!" To my flank to stop the machine gun from mowing us down. I tell my units on the Center with me to cover me, and I radio the other Flanks telling them to take out that Machine gun. I then put my Radio back and draw the Machine guns fire so the Right or Left Flank can take it out.
