Hmm... overall favorite musical artist would have to be Chopin. I don't know what it is, but piano music is especially touching to me and Chopin wrote some of the most haunting, melodic works for piano I've ever heard.
If I am going to take the title literally and go for an 'artist' outside of music then I'll have to go with VanGogh. His work is deep and moving, the lines of his paintings are just fascinating.
The band I'm listening to the most right now is Machinae Supremacy, but my favorite for all time is probably Bad Religion. They have so many songs, and pretty much all of them are great.
you cant understand untill youve seen them in person live.
the story kinda goes like this.
i went to go see them at progressive nation here in denver and for the first 2 acts we sat on the VERY VERY top row because thats all we could afford....... after the second act and about the middle of the third right before dream theater, this guy with long hair and a beard walked up and gave is tickets in the BOTTOM SECTION NEAR THE FRONT.
so we were pyched. we walked down there and watched zappa plays zappa (which by the way they kicked ass) and then dream theater shows starts. LOW AND BEHOLD IT WAS FUCKING JOHN PETRUCCI WHO GAVE US THOSE TICKETS!!!!! i will never forget that....
