Jesus (religion) is always depicted as someone with fair skin light brown hair and blue eyes. this is most likely very wrong. would you agree that Jesus would have dark brown hair and tanned skin like every other Jew like him?

oh, and here's a list of known terrorist attacks against the US since 1990... a lot more than 4 were Islamic extremists or of Arabic descent.

1993

In 1995, militant Islamist Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and 9 others were convicted of conspiracy charges, and in 1998, Ramzi Yousef, believed to have been the mastermind, was convicted of the bombing. Al-Qaeda involvement is suspected.

Aug. 7, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near 2 U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500. 4 men connected with al-Qaeda 2 of whom had received training at al-Qaeda camps inside Afghanistan, were convicted of the killings in May 2001 and later sentenced to life in prison. A federal grand jury had indicted 22 men in connection with the attacks, including Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, who remained at large.

2000
Oct. 12, Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. 17 sailors killed. Linked to Osama bin Laden, or members of al-Qaeda terrorist network.

2001
Sept. 11, New York City, Arlington, Va., and Shanksville, Pa.: hijackers crashed 2 commercial jets into twin towers of World Trade Center; 2 more hijacked jets were crashed into the Pentagon and a field in rural Pa. Total dead and missing numbered 2,9921: 2,749 in New York City, 184 at the Pentagon, 40 in Pa., and 19 hijackers. Islamic al-Qaeda terrorist group blamed. (See September 11, 2001: Timeline of Terrorism.)

About 300 people are wounded and nearly 190 people die, including at least 5 Americans.

April 10, Iraq: a suicide attack kills five American soldiers and two Iraqi policemen.
Dec. 25: A Nigerian man on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit attempted to ignite an explosive device hidden in his underwear. The explosive device that failed to detonate was a mixture of powder and liquid that did not alert security personnel in the airport. The alleged bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, told officials later that he was directed by the terrorist group Al Qaeda. The suspect was already on the government's watch list when he attempted the bombing; his father, a respected Nigerian banker, had told the U.S. government that he was worried about his son's increased extremism.
Dec. 30, Iraq: a suicide bomber kills eight Americans civilians, seven of them CIA agents, at a base in Afghanistan. It's the deadliest attack on the agency since 9/11. The attacker is reportedly a double agent from Jordan who was acting on behalf of al-Qaeda.

May 2, New York City: After discovering a bomb in a smoking vehicle parked in Times Square, authorities arrest Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani who recently became a naturalized U.S. citizen, and charge him with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and several other federal charges. American officials later announce that the Pakistani Taliban likely played a role in the bomb plot, including training Shahzad.

Interesting. And those who were not Islamic extremists, what nationality were they?

At least 9 incidents directly name the ELF/ALF who are both listed by the FBI as domestic terrorist groups, so they are meaning they comprise of US nationals, meaning those two groups alone account for 40% of the total acts committed between 2004/2009. When you add in the environmentalists and the abortion doctor incident, all by Americans, you get to %56 of the incidents perpetrated by Americans, as opposed to %17 committed by Arabs. And the rest are unkown.

And I was referring primarily to us here in the West

Last time I checked Britain comes under the umbrella term 'the West'.

Sorry for the DP but I wold like to make two very important comments about your stats. Firstly, I was concerning myself only with attacks made on US soil. However even internationally Islam plays second fiddle, and indeed even less are Muslims of Arab descent (the proportion of the muslim attacks on US soil since 2004 who were Arabic was 0% btw).

Anyway here are the international stats:

Secular/political/anarchist: 13090
Unkown: 10682
Islamic Sunni: 5900
Tribal/clan/ethnic: 368
Christian: 182
Total: 30222

If you do the maths here, you will see that 43.31% were secular/political/anarchist groups, 19.52% islamic extremists, 1.218% by tribal/clan/ethnic and 0.6022% by Christians. The rest is unkown.

To breakdown the Muslim stats further though, 10% of global terrorist attacks were committed by muslims who were also Arabs, 9% if you ommit the Palestinians.

However. Back to my second critique of your stats. I ommitted terrorist attacks which occurred during an active war zone, because, terrorism is defined by Code of Federal Regulations as ''the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives''. This definition is broad and when applied only to one side in a war runs the risk of presenting an unfair bias. Thus I ommitted Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, India, Sudan and Mexico from my stats, since. I classified war as a conflict including 1000+ annual deaths. Please note that I left in Palestine/Israel. The number of Islamic attacks would have nearly been halved had I not.

Interesting statistics. It seems, then, that the media plays up an even more unfair bias against Islamic extremists than I had previously thought. I had known that Islamic terrorists were not the only group, but had thought them to be the majority, or at least close to it. Perhaps it is the media coverage of their attacks, coupled with their very vocal claiming of such attacks, that puts groups like them into the forefront of our minds.

Also like to add that people depict God as a fat white man, with a great white beard. Which leads me to believe that God IS Santa Claus, or a close relative of his, a brother perhaps?

Trading Fairy Tales

The only place I've seen god depicted differently was on South Park. He is shown as some platypus thingy.

This depends on what religion but for the Christian God.

Oh, God
Bruce/Evan Almighty
the Bible
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
Demon Lord Dante

Also depict God differently as well.

I was going to do that... I was to busy watching his new one...

It seems the English were trying to either relate to him as wise or kingly, the beard for wisdom the fatness for kingly...

Also, for some mysterious reason, the word "community" is underlined

That is not irony. The add system works on keywords, the word "Jesus" brought "Jesus" adds. The gay marriage thread had an add to fit most of the time. The Israel threads usually have an add for Israel....

When I think of him, I think of a guy with a light brown complexion, about the average size of people today (even though people 2,000 years ago were significantly shorter than the average person today. I imagine dark-brown hair and a beard. Also some old robes.

That's interesting, because he was obviously a rather large man, and quite imposing. Not to mention he would have been very muscular, having been a carpenter for many years. He probably would have been very dark skinned as well, not only due to race, but again spending years working outside at hard physical labor.

Media coverage is almost certainly it. With political/environmentalist attacks against big corporations, quite often the corporations themselves don't want to make a big deal out of it, because it would highlight their questionable business ethics.

And of course it's all about money. Evil arabic terrorists sell papers. Bearded anarchist students who smoke too much weed with an axe to grind don't.
