I love blues. When I was in high school band I played jazz/blues (alto and tenor saxaphone). My favorite blues artists would have to be Muddy Waters, B. B. King, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, and John Lee Hooker.
Those songs all have blues-elements in them, the reason why it might not be blues to some people is because of Black Sabbath's signature, crushingly-loud interpretation of them. Great songs. A lot of the band member's favorite artists growing up were blues and soul musicians, so that's reflected a bit in their music.
Black Sabbath was originally a blues band called "Earth" and switched over to, and invented, heavy metal because they saw a horror movie. They saw how people were scared of the horror movies so they decided to make music that can scare people.
Call it old, but I really like some of B.B. King's stuff. It's so simple but so complicated at the same time. Also I like Stevie Ray Vaughan.
My fav blues artists are probably Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan (i love pride and joy), Oli Brown, Fleetwood Mac (theyre first stuff), Lightin' Hopkins and Taj Mahal.
Also, with all this talk about Stevie Ray Vaughn, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Testify". A great instrumental track. Also, Leadbelly is an excellent blues musician who you should look up.
I'm listening to a Beatles song right now called Yer Blues. It's a good blues song. Originally, The Beatles were a bar blues band before they went mainstream pop-rock.
Without a doubt my favorite blues musician and one of my favorite guitarist is Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was extremely talented at guitar, it's a shame he died rather young. Many people don't listen to much blues anymore. I personally dislike most "modern music", like rap and pop.
Yes they are. I love how they can have good music and still be funny at the same time. For those who have never heard them before here are a few songs... Soul Man Rubber Biscuit
