I know this is probably going to be rejected by the Armor Games community with a lot of force, but did anybody see Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies throw a no-hitter against the Cincinatti Reds last night? It was only the second no-hitter in Major League Baseball postseason history, and after hurling a perfect game earlier in the season, Doc Halladay should be a unanimous National League Cy Young Award winner; does anyone besides me have any thought on this (Yes, it is a big deal)?
yes i saw it and while i hate every other baseball team that isnt the rockies with a burning passion, EXEPCIALLY, the phillies.... i give roy SOOOOO much respect. 2 no hitters in one season is jsut unreal.
i would have given the CY to ubaldo before this butt omg.... its jsut amazing to throw not one but TWO no hitters...
Roy Halladay is the first pitcher since Nolan Ryan when he was with the California Angels in 1973 to throw two no-hitters in the same year. Why should the Cy Young go to Ubaldo Jimenez? He fell on his face in the second half, while Halladay just got stronger. I wouldn't even put Ubaldo second in the Cy Young race, I'd favor Adam Wainwright over him, just because Ubaldo choked so badly.
I missed it i was to buys watching my twins get ran over by the yanks in the 2nd half of the game... we fell apart. but this season has had alot of no hitters im glad to be a baseball fan this year... all i can hope now is that the yanks dont win i hate them with a passion haha
no offense yankees fans i just hate getting beat by you every year in the post season
To believe that the last postseason no-hitter before Doc yesterday was way back in 1955, when 'ol Donny Larsen threw his perfect game for the Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series. A thing that a lot of people are forgetting, though, is that this was Doc's first career postseason start. That's amazing he could stave off the pressure and do something nobody's done in so long. This has been a great year for baseball, the game is really surging back into the hearts of the American sports-viewing public after the steroid scandal.
I'm kinda p'd that I was at band (yes, band, hardy har har) basically the whole game, but I did find out while I was at school yesterday. But yeah, I've admired Roy for a long time and I actually saw him pitch when I went to a game while I was in Philadelphia in early July. He's one helluva pitcher, and most pitchers break down after a no-hitter, but to him, a no-hitter/perfect game is just another start.

Haha it's fine lol. I'm a yankee fan but I can't stand the Yankees at the same time, we need a better manager.
ubaldo had 19 wins this season dude. and hes pitched well all year. he messed up i think 2 games, but the rest were the teams fault for not scoring runs, not ubaldos... i would know.... the rockies are the only team i like.
Didn't Joe Girardi just win you a World frickin' Series? Be thankful for what you have, geez.
Lol, you obviously aren't from New York. The players won the World Series, not the managers. Matsui, Jeter, and Damon's bats and our average pitching were enough to win 4 games in the World Series last year.
oh and also im not saying that ubaldo should win it now. i mean he was deffinatly a contender for it before the second no hitter. but i think halloday has got it easy now for that

Oh, so Joe Torre didn't have anything to do with them winning four World Series titles?

Actually, he even said last year in an interview that he was lucky to have the players he had during the mid-1990's-early 2000's because "it made his job easier"

So, um, you're saying they could of had any schmuck as their manager, and they would have won those titles? Using your reasoning, they could of had Larry Bowa or Jerry Coleman or Don Zimmer as their manager and won four titles. According to that reasoning, they could of just got anyone off the street to fill their lineup card. I don't think just anyone could have endured the stress it takes to be manager for the New York Yankees.

I see your point now. I should've recognized your point earlier since I read Joe Torre's book. Obviously you need a manager who can control the pressures of the New York Media, but if you have that + the players from the championship years, it's basically easy mode. All you need to do is know when pitchers are doing well and don't need to be taken out. Joe Girardi is a pretty smart guy and I think he's handling the pressures ok, but he doesn't know how to make smart moves as a manager, like one of last year's playoff games against the Angels, he took one of our pitchers out in the middle of the 10th inning, even though he was doing really well, and replaced him with another pitcher. That pitcher lost the game after giving up two consecutive doubles.
So back on topic, how do you thing Halladay's second start in the postseason is going to be? And when, as in will it be in the NLDS, or the NLCS?
