Ok i love books, and i need to find more to read, so list your faves, mine are my side of the mountain, savvy, and a childrens book, from my childhood, called seven picky eaters
holy crap! 34! Is that like 34 books, or 34 short stories or what?!?
Yes 34 books, the author is 77 I think, and has been writing since he started the series in 1977 I think. He has also written a ton of other books that I never really could get into.
hmmmm.... you might have to explain her argument for not reading. i am currently trying to convince my school library to get books like the art of war and a couple of others.
You lucky devil; that's my dream you're living. Come talk some sense into my girlfriend.
I've been an avid reader since grade school. My wife has just recently corrupted me away from educational type material and more into stuff like Nora Robers, Sandra Brown, and other authors of their ilk. Actually fantastic authors, they blend mystery, suspense, and romance in such a way that makes it nigh impossible to put down their books. Anne Rice will probably always be my favorite, but the Mrs. is expanding my horizons, which is good.
-IceClaw by david Gilman -The Demonata series by Darren Shan -Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer -Gone by Micheal Grant -Jimmy Coates by Joe Craig -Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
I have read Stephen King's The Dark Tower series (Dark Fantasy and have read the whole series twice also it's seven books)also if you want read the other books that go along with the series like Hearts in Atlantis, Insomnia (Not like the movie with Al Pacino)The Stand and The Talisman. Have read The Golden Compass books. I am currently reading The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
If you like of short/horror stories, you could read "The Walker Book of Ghost stories". I don't remember the name of the author, but you could search for the name of the book.
You could also read some real, REAL classic books, like The Wizard of Oz, by L.Frank.Baum and Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carrol).
Here's a little list of some good books I've read'n:
- The Darren Shan books (Cirque du Freak, made by Darren Shan, a horror book-serie) - The tales of Narnia (Haven't finished yet, adventure books) - Harry Potters (J.K.Rowling, adventure/mystery/magic books)
And etc, I'm not having any books in my mind right now... You should try for the Oz books, they're so great.
Has anyone found that they can sometimes read a person by knowing what books they read?
Definitely. For instance, if I said I read the Boxcar Children Series or the Magic Tree House, you would think I'm probably 10. I don't though, so don't get worried.
The Freedom Writers Diary by The Freedom Writers with Erin Gruwell This is a really good book. It really gives you insights into other peoples' hardships, like racism, abuse, violence, and abuse, and it tells how a teacher transformed her students' lives.
Uglies Series These books give a really good insight of how appearances mean so much. It's action-filled and is perfect for teens.
The Vast Fields of Ordinary If you're a homophobe, don't read this. I really liked this book.
The Perfect Chemistry Series Besides being a romance novel(is it?), this series was very informative- I learned words in Spanish and about gangs. I also saw how outward appearances affect people so much. I loved this series!
The Twilight Saga Almost everyone hates this series, but I think these are really good books. They really get you thinking about genetics and extra-strong beings.
