Male vocalists is more difficult because of all the interesting and unique male vocalists that're out there. I would tentatively and enthusiastically recommend Roy Khan, and that's really it. Technically speaking, that is. Timbre-wise, I could rant for days about Matt Berninger and Doug Martsch and Mikael Akerfeldt and Thom Yorke and Donald Fagen and Paul Masvidal and get nowhere. so if you have any great finds, post them plox.

you should listen to his cousin Miranda Lambert even if you dont like country she has a great voice. I also think Kelly Clarkson is a very under rated artist. A lot of people just think of her as that pop singer who won american idol but shes so much more than that. I mean watch this:
