I haven't seen a thread talking about this fantastic new game yet. So I decided to go ahead and make one. I don't post often here, but I'm a hardcore lurker and I come on AG regularly to try out the new stuff. But after experiencing this game I felt like I had to get some discussion going.
Personally; I freakin' love it! It's action-packed, exciting and a challenge. I love the feel of the controls and the graphics, the voice acting is top-notch. It doesn't have much of a story, but a game like this doesn't need one in my opinion. I've seen a few comments saying that it gets boring when you fully upgrade to 'tank' but that's just when you go and see how far you can get in the alternate modes.
All in all, fantastic game. I would love to see more of it's type.
So AGers! What do you love (or hate) about Road of the Dead? (:
Yeah, I think there's definitely lots of potential there for new additions and features. This game could even be a small part of a larger 'zombie apocolyse' game. Like, getting between areas.
I think that would be pretty kick-ass!
But toned down from that grandiose vision; there's still plenty of stuff they could do with the current format too. Like, a gun mounted on your car, other drivers on the road, more variation and weaponry from the military being thrown against you, list could go on!
I'm glad there's a thread for this game already because I was going to post one if there wasn't! I've only played driving games at the arcades so mouse driving is going to take me longer than most of you BUT the controls are smooth. I only wish we could use a shifter and a clutch for us "old-schoolers". What a fun game. I just tried it out for the first time and since it's 3:38am I'm going to keep my ride parked in the garage 'til daylight. That's how realistic this game is!
To: selket, I agree with you, this game deserves full screen stardom!
To: checker, lawls, I'll check out the tank theory later.
So awesome game!I just love driving over those zombies and soldiers. But sometimes its annoing that you cant dodge cars, so you just get through of them, expesially with helicopters, you really can dodge cars if you want helicopter getting hitted by those signs.
Just keep trying. Never abort a run, because you get no Road Points. So, when you die, upgrade some more and try again. If you die again, upgrade again. As for the napalm, do you mean the soldier or the carpet bomb? Because for the soldier, you can see it coming from a mile away. And for the carpet bombs, just drive on the other side.
Oh and people seem to struggle to take down helicopters, here's a little quick-guide on how to deal with them:
1: When it appears, don't panic. It won't start shooting right away. 2: When it does start shooting, you can dodge the fire by swerving left and right, use your handbrake! (Space default) 3: Driving along the extreme left or right of the road underneath one of the blue signs is the way to destroy them. 3 hits and they retreat. 4: Sometimes it's a better idea to miss a sign in favour of keeping your health up and less damage to your car. If you're not sure you can make a hit, wait until the next sign. 5: In the latter stages of the game the helicopters gain a new weapon: air to ground missiles. They are very difficult to avoid, but you should try hard to because they HURT. Wait until the missile is about halfway to hitting you, then swerve hard right or left, whichever has more room. It makes getting the copters to crash into the signs harder, but with practice, you can take 3-4 helicopters per run.
This game is amazing, never really a fan of driving games but this one I got the hang of. Got third for today and 7th overall on the Dead on Time today. The dam helis are the thing I hate on this game, trying to get them to smash into the billboards without crashing into cars myself.
