This is where I will post Pivot animations. I am new to this, so don't judge it like it was made by a person who has done this for years. If you want to post Pivot here, message me first. I am still working on an already 40+ frame animation. It'll come soon.

I am still working on an already 40+ frame animation.

This sort of made me giggle, as I'm on frame 544 of my current project

Either way, good luck with it.

If you're having trouble making it run smoothly, raise the FPS and check out this guide to easing.

And whatever you do, don't rush it. Whenever it starts to get boring, just take a break or something. I know from experience that when you work on something because you just want to finish it, rather than for fun, you tend to lower the quality of it and/or mess up.

Well, its finished. And this is my first animation, so I wanted to make a quick one so I could get feedback on my work and see what I need to improve on. Well, here it is. With about 11 FPS.

What do you think? I think I kinda messed up on the jump and a little bit on the kick and the part where the swords bounce off each other.

Raise the FPS to at least 16. I usually use 20. You're already making a lot of frames, so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Your movements are a bit stiff too. When he jumped, he just crouched, but he didn't straighten out his legs again to push off. He just prepared to jump, then started levitating.

Also, you should think about how every limb moves, and use their entire bodies to jump or swing the sword.

I made a little example of what I mean with using the entire body to jump

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/376/jumperd.gif

Few people jump without moving their arms and back, and if someone does, they look pretty darn silly.

I don't expect you to just learn that immediately, I realize that you are new and your animation is good for a beginner, but you might want to practice these things to improve.

Also, when you have the time/patience I'd suggest checking out the easing guide I linked earlier.

I think he's just saying that, when there is a 16th page, he won't agree with his thoughts.

Hey looks like you downloaded it, nice. Use that easing thing imogwai mentioned. Him and jdogg are some of the best pivters here. Pretty good to start with though.

In my last one, I kinda was tired, so I didn't see the issues, other then the fact that it was messed up. Now, I'm making one with a bit more detail, and so far it only has 10 frames. If you want, I will post what I have so far. Although it won't even be a second long...

If your looking to get better Youtube has some nice tutorials. Even just mimicking the tutorial can at least give you an idea and help familiarize you with the animation movements. Also when you animate stuff try and think of how you would do that same movement in real life. How would the arms move? The legs? The torso? (Unless you are trying to be stylist then you would animate it differently and the stick figures can't move exactly like humans).

The arms and legs move an awful lot considering how slowly they're running.

I could change the frame rate. By the way, that was at 25 FPS... At a higher frame rate, the arms and legs will move faster, but it will be harder to notice I think.

You don't need to change the FPS. What could be done is either make them move sideways faster, or make the arm and leg movements less extreme.

Also, keep in mind when someone runs or walks that a foot (or end of a leg) that touches the ground shouldn't change position. Not sure if they do that in your animation, it's still sort of short. I've noticed when animating that, sometimes, some things that look really bad halfway through the scene tend to look better when more is added to it.

It kinda looks like they hop forward on their front foot near the end instead of using both feet.

@ZombieFreak77: Save the animation as a GIF file, upload the picture at an image hosting site, such as Imageshack.com, and then use the Image button when posting a message to put the picture in the message.

If you use Pivot 3.0 you can use the Load Sprite button to load BMP or GIF images, which you can draw in good old MS Paint. If you use 2.2.5, you'll have to go to Create Figure and draw it in Pivot. When it's drawn, press "Add to animation". Still, I'd suggest getting 3.0, it allows you to use different backgrounds at different frames too.

@Gtfawjkjg: Hope you don't mind all this off-topic talk in your thread :P
