i keep hearing so many great things about colony. how its so awesome and its re-playability is head and shoulders above the rest. yet i fail to find any enjoyment in it. its okay. a solid 7.5 out of 10. but i cant see al the hype about it. of course, this is only MY personal opinion, but i wnated to see if anyone agrees with me.
Of course there are people who agree with you. Plenty of people like and dislike colony. The same goes for other popular games like exit path and sonny.
I'd also like to point out that playing colony with good people is a lot more fun.
perhaps. but i just find it kinda boring. its not fast enough for me. it simply takes too long for the resources to build up, then u have to build an army, which in my XP, takes 4EVER. and this is in my opinion when, yes, i HAVE played the game.
I'm the same as the OP. I really can't see the huge appeal. And I'm a big fan of Krin's games, but Colony is plain dull. There's no 2 ways about it. (I'm actually really sick and tired of the constant colony related threads on this board, get over it already.)

It sounds to me like you've been playing lame "build-up" matches. Those build-up matches are NOT how the game is meant to be played. Don't just sit there, make a laggish big army, then attack after 20 minutes. If that was what starcraft was like, then it would be boring too.

I would say 1/2 the people that play at this point are people who love to sit around, save 1-2k resources, then spam over a course of 10 minutes. This is why most new players HATE it. The game wasn't meant to be about who can make the game lag the worst, it was about pinning your enemy down with a small force early on, then try to support it, fighting in the beginning, middle, and end of the game, not just 20 minutes after it starts. Colony is about strategy, not waiting for 3 hours watching videos on youtube, then making a massive army, which a lot of people don't seem to get, =/.
Turkey's right. I was there when Colony was first released. Everyone made a 5+ minute build up. It was so fun. People thought the hard cpus were nooby. Hard cpus are actually pro (until you trick them into building something else that won't harm your army). I didn't really see what was pro about hard cpus until Mazer (my old friend) showed me lots of rush tactics. I was.... frustrated at the time. Lol.
Colony was made to keep fighting and playing, with constant strategies, until somebody wins.
It's like this one game I saw the other day, Llama Adventure, By John. ([url=http://armorgames.com/play/3785/llama-adventure])
If you check it out, its a slow-paced typing game. I for one, hate these kind of games and it disappointed me because, since john made it, I was expecting a fast-paced game, like Exit Path. A game has to be your style if you want to play it.
Like I've told Zultimategamer before you, you need to be GOOD at Colony in order to fully enjoy it.
Even at its best, it isn't nearly as fast-paced as commercial RTS games, but it can still get pretty hectic. Have four people that are good, and start a 2v2 normal match. Awesomeness ensues.
You need a LOT of precise micro and timing to be good at Colony. I can understand where your argument is coming from if you play at a low level (where people have silly 15 minute build-up rules), but again, Colony is a game where you really need to be good at it to enjoy.
