I know there's already a guide, but I figured this will clear up some of the other stuff that is missing from the guide. Common misconceptions on forum games, questions, etc. In addition, if you have a question on forum games, feel free to ask.
Q:
Do all RPGs need a character sheet?
A: No, of course not. While it is true that character sheets will make things much easier, you don't need to have them to have a good RPG. In fact, plenty of good RPGs have come along without character sheets.
Q:
If I want a game, do I have to make it?
A:Well, if you want to run it, of course you do. If you want to play it, you might request that a Forum Game maker create it. There are a few threads made specifically for users to request games that they would like to see.
Q:
What is the player limit on an RPG?
A: There really is no player limit, you set it.
Q:
Can I co-create a game?
A: Yep, you and a partner can co-create a game. Just as long as you give them credit for it.
This forum doesn't give AP, so spam is okay, right?
Wrong. Spam is not okay anywhere in the forum, AP or no AP.
Q:
What if I want to use someone else's idea?
A: The best course of action is to use your own ideas, but if you see someone else's technique and you would like to utilize it, then if you ask them and they give the green light, it's okay. Just be sure to give them credit for it.
Q:
What if I have an idea for a thread, but there's already a game like it?
A: The best course of action would probably be to wait until the other thread dies down, which it will.
Q:
My last game was a flop! Any ideas to attract attention for my new one?
A: Things Not To Do: Advertise your game on other threads(i.e. posting JOIN MY GAME PLEASE). This is annoying, spammish, and against the rules. Things To Do: Give it a good title. A game with a good title, will be a game with a good turnout. You can also mention it in passing to a friend, as long as you don't do it constantly and that's not all your post is comprised of. Any further questions, feel free to ask, as I said. I know this is a bad FAQ, but I think it will expand.
