EA has dedicated servers and look how they turned out
You don't even need Dedicated Servers from the company. There's a nice lil' checker box saying "EA Servers" and oh! Look! Plenty of Servers. So to answer your question:

letting a player host
is worse... have you even played Modern Warfare 2? Lag is terrible, rewiring hosts etc is irritating and the blatant lag or hit registration misleads are infuriating to most. It's equally as fast as someone who's tried bost, and everyone has the same ping, roughly (I got slightly more due to my location).

I'm not going to be able to get Black Ops on the release date, but I'm going to get it eventually. I'm pretty excited about the new game-types Treyarch made. One Bullet in a Chamber, or something like that sounds pretty fun. And they're finally including bots, for people like me who can't play online.
And given the reasons I make to explain how PC is better, I don't think it should really make much a difference. This is also one of those things. If you don't want EA servers, play PC >
