Humans throughout the ages have fought for various reasons. Predominatly, we usually fight for land or for monatary gain. What I don't get is why. It seems stupid for humans to fight over a piece of dirt. There are so many ways to better spend human lives and energy. Fighting for religion is also a pointless waste of time. People are going to believe what people will believe, regardless of whether or not you want them to or not.
Sadly, fighting, greed, trying to make others believe you, and power are all human nature. All of these things are stupid, like trying to get rich when you will just die anyway, regardless of wheter or not you are rich. You will decompose just like the beggar that sat outside of your gates and begged.
The fact that these things are silly, pointless wastes of time and energy, then it just makes human nature seem stupid, since all of these things tie right back to human nature.
These things don't just drive us to fight one another but also have roots in traits that allowed us to survive. For instance monetary gain, not only does this stem from our drive to establish ourselves in a group, but also from our necessity for tool use. Establishing ourselves in a group is beneficial to the group to have the best within it leading, this also is beneficial to the individual for mating. Those who has the right tools (the most stuff) could be more diverse and beneficial to the group. We have simply projected this onto money.
Fighting for land is not human nature. Land is territory, all animals fight over territory. What makes humans better than animals.
All animals fight, all animals are greedy. Everything seeks to better itself. Thats why lions fight for the territory in which the Pride leader controls. ONE male lion holds power over 10-15 female lions, they are all his. Every now and then another male lion comes along and fights the dominant for his place.
This may go hand in hand with what was already said.
