Now, the topic at hand (as you've probably guessed), is the idea of 'Facebook Narcissism'. For those who don't know what Narcissism is:
1. an exceptional interest in or admiration for oneself, esp one's physical appearance 2. sexual satisfaction derived from contemplation of one's own physical or mental endowments
Anyway, I think a good place to start in this thread would be: What do you think about the notion of facebook narcissism? Do you think it really exists? Or is it just 'eople being people' and promoting themselves in what they consider the best way possible?
Parent's and friends that don't want pictures of themselves or them doing questionable activities posted on the Internet then their names tagged on to it. Employers would be able to easily find those pictures and information and decide not to hire or promote you. Also Facebook has made it easier for third parties to data mine the site for information on people and give the Internet in general more access to your personal information. Which is never a good thing.
It's hard when your not on facebook and your friends are posting pictures with you in them.
Get a Facebook then, if nothing else for the purposes of untagging yourself. Side note today is national unfriend day on Facebook.
This also brings about a question of the ethics of employers, college admission officers, etc. looking at your online posts and using it as a factor in deciding if you'll be accepted, fired, or whatever is applicable.

You cant be tagged if your not on facebook, so, not a problem there. Also they can't 'easily' be found if they're just tagged and have no facebook, it won't come up anywhere unless the boss is some extreme stalker.
