I just got done playing Human Target Training, which is a game advertising a TV show. It's not the first time AG has posted a game that advertises a show or website. So I'm wondering about this type of game: is it a good way for advertisers to market their product while providing gamers with more games, or is it selling out by posting (sometimes poor) games just designed to earn money? What do you think?

The wallace and gromit game was basically an advertisement I guess, and it was pretty good

I think advertising games are a nice idea if anyone would programm and design them well. Most advertising games are just bullsh*t that were created within 2 months. So the verdict is that advertising games are created to earn money.

It's fine, As long as it doesn't affect the game play much.

Actually ,although I have to admit some advertising games are rather idiotic, Some games are really supposed to be like that because some companies are just unprofessional enough to hire a specialist in making flash games and I would do the same if I in that position since making TV shows is somehow related in making games.

I don't see the fuss. Other sites allow all kinds of flash games. Compared to Kongregate at least, AG's submission standards are high. That's why you see a substantially less number of games. I've seen lots of BS submitted to places like Kong and NG. Advertising games aren't the worst I've seen. I don't see how AG is "selling" out.

Why worry?

even if the game is an advertisment if you like it keep playing. either way you should have fun playing it but if you don't like the game don't play it. but in the end we have another way to play another game.

Without advertisements AG wouldn't be running. It is where they get most of their income, the rest of it comes from the apps they make for Ipods and Iphones.

I hate advertising games!Usually they are just s*hit what are created to get some money, and if you want money for games, make (good) video games, that is my opinnion!Flash games should be free to play, so no advertisiment plz!

You also have to see that e.g. Human Target Training is just a game where you shoot cardboard ppl into their chest, without being related in any wise to Human Target's story.

it just seems like the developers dont care how the game turns out, they just need it done for advertising

They should make a game advertising an advertisement game

I don't mind as the game is constructive and good, and the there isn't any misleading advertisements or bait and switch links.

Te best one I've played was Mirrors Edge: The FLash Version, cause they hired the Fancy Pants creator so it was really good. The Uncharted 2 one was decent as well.

The whole reason AG puts there logo on their ads is to generate interest for AG, that is the same principle behind the advertising games. Good game = more interest in product/site/whatever = more money

Advergames can be just as good as normal games, you know. Like this one game that was a parody of the Escape trilogy (the one with the white rabbit, not the one where if you give a shopkeeper something he gives you a fire extinguisher.) and took place on a spaceship. It even parodied Advergames themselves!

The company was some electronics company I think, but that's unimportant.
