I have noticed among my religious friends, that attending Church, Temple, etc. is mandatory. While I don't have a problem with this, I do question the need attend on a mandatory basis. If you truly believe in God, shouldn't you be able to pray in your own home? After all isn't it written in the scriptures of most religions that God embodies all?

Why should it be so though? Aren't all prayers equal under the eyes of your God? Shouldn't a prayer of hope made by the bedside of a dying person be the same as a prayer of hope made for the same person in church?

Probably in definitive every prayer is supposed to have the same effect, though going to church to do it is simply more relevant for the person doing it; the person itself gains a better feeling from it, even though there's no difference.

T'is just a thought about the 'why'. Of course going to church also gives the church the possibility to control who goes how often and so on... it's all just human and has no impact on any (hypothetical) deity.

Don't drag me down with you. No seriously, stop generalizing groups of people. Not everyone agrees with that statement. I don't.

But that's my point. If god permeates ALL, then what makes a church any better than ones home?

Church seems better because of the fact that it has a pastor to teach about God. Of course, you don't really have to go to church to be Christian. I rarely do myself (at least for sunday services). So I guess the home really isn't to much worse than the church.

I remember from when I was 6, I went to church then. All of my friends who went to church were snobby little rich kids. As I got older I noticed the ways they acted, it angered me. So I separated myself from church. I told my grandparents that I'm not going back, after a week she agreed. (I had to go on the traditional Sunday, and occasional Wednesday) I feel good about my decision, since at my current age I realize how ELITE Church is. I believe mandatory attendance to church is stupid. In fact churches are way too glamorized now anyway. I was going camping with my family, and on the long trip there I see this HUGE church with lots of glass. (Not the stained kind) Like, a huge modern house. It seems God (If even real) would rather prefer the people who don't go to church.
