Nice to see there's still some life into this thread! =)

How about some cheesy 80's album covers?! They are SO awfully bad, they're great! LOL =D

Tigertailz - "Young and Crazy"

Tigertailz - "Bezerk"

Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged In
http://www.amoeba.com/dynamic-images/blog/Kelly/Poison-Look-What-the-Cat-Dragged-In.jpg

And then some nice covers by great artists...

Journey - "Escape"

This is an awesome beautiful album cover in my opinion!! One of the few albums hanging proudly on my wall!

What you can Ernie... I can too! Even though "Afterburner" is truly awesome and beats mine, let's not forget:

ZZ Top - "Eliminator"
http://www.retrorush.com/images/products/tshirts/ZZ_TOP_eliminator_t-shirt_M_S.jpg
Bold, straight forward, defined cover by the Texan rockers!

Pillar - "Where Do We Go From Here"
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51QM5RW46ZL._SL500_SS500_.jpg
A simple design, but the meaning behind their music has a reflection in the cover...

Who's next? =)

How this threads been going a while. I didn't even remember that I even posted here before. Anyways, a new one now

Rush's Grace Under Pressure. The surrealism of the cover always amazed me. Also, if you look closely, you can see a face.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: the album Dangerous by Michael Jackson. It is so full of details...

The next cover is pretty simple, but I find it quite captivating. I guess it's due to the hand-drawn design. It is the album The Eraser by Thom Yorke.

I started digging and found some more album cover gems in my CD collection... =)

Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds of the Western World

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/08/b3/fa93793509a093726f883110.L.jpg

I'm always a fan of comic art used on album covers, especially when it's an awesome band like Thin Lizzy!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Freaky Styley

http://images.uulyrics.com/cover/r/red-hot-chili-peppers/album-freaky-styley.jpg

Exactly what the band is like: having their own style in a freaky way!

-

Rolling Stones - Some Girls

http://www.elgervanboxtel.nl/music/upload/covers/orig//TheRollingStones-SomeGirls.jpg

A colorful, funny and whitty album cover by one of the biggest rock bands...

-

KoRn - The Suite World

http://data.whicdn.com/images/11803904/korn-albumcover-TheSuiteWorld_large.jpg

A very frightening thought that is well displayed visually...

It seems that everybody is posting English covers (for obvious reasons), so I've decided to post two album covers of bands of my country just to add some diversity.

Gossos - Metamorfosi: this is probably not the most distinctive cover I've ever seen. I was around 14 when it was released, so an album cover with naked guys on it got my attention somehow...

http://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q550/kegaumongo/Gossos-Metamorfosi_zps63993306.jpg

Dept - Equilibri: I don't have much to say about this one. It's just beautiful. That's all.

Mastodon was already mentioned by delossantos before with an image of Crack The Skye, and here I come with my favourite: Blood Mountain.

Another creative art is from the album Words Untold & Dreams Unlived by Serenity:

And let's not forget Stand Up And Fight by Turisas, a masterly cover art that nicely reflects the story within the songs of that album:

I have to say... I don't know! I don't even listen to music with weird album covers. :P I guess a good cover would be one with the name on it. O.O

Mayhem - Dawn of the Black Hearts

I think I may have found the most distinctive by far...this is the band's lead singer after he committed suicide. One of the members found him (they were living together) and before calling the police bought a disposable camera and took a picture of the scene. This is that picture
