why would they be hiding AREA 51. that could be a bluff... but think- why would all these military bases spring up in the new mex. and nevada desert?
Well we already know that Area 51 and numerous other bases in the region were built to house and test top secret aircraft. That's been their purpose since they were first built, so it would stand to reason that they would still be used for that purpose.
As for why there are so many of them, airbases require lots of flat and open ground, and there is lots of that in Nevada and New Mexico, as well as Arizona. Also, when these bases were being built these were largely unowned and uninhabited areas, which made secrecy easy to achieve, and there was plenty of land to utilize for the purpose of aircraft development.
