That too; Nowadays I can get away with just using shortcuts and explaining the shortcuts to the teacher, but back then was hell >.>
I actually didn't mind it, back when the problems were actually difficult(ah...sixth grade). I liked my sixth grade math teacher because her rules made sense(mostly because she explained them to us, unlike some teachers I know) and because she challenged us. Which is the exact reason I hated my seventh grade math teacher. I **** you not, she had us using blocks and manipulatives to solve 2 + 2 = 4 in the advanced class(which, in this messed up NCBA budget cut world, is apparently Pre-Al) and making us show our work on the paper. For 2 + 2 = 4. And drawing arrays for 2 x 2 = 4. The only day that was even remotely intellectually interesting at any point in math in seventh grade was when we got horribly off-track and starting talking about dimensions beyond the third(the fourth dimension, time, Einstein's Theory of Relativity, then the fifth dimension potentials, gravity, velocity, tesseracts, A Wrinkle in Time...).
I've had a ****ty as **** day i really rather not read half of these boring things about stinking decimals
Then why do you? They're not directed at you and I'm not forcing you to read them.

Not to be stereotypical, but how were 7th graders talking about all those advanced concepts?

It was mostly an inner chat. We mentioned it in class(one of the other kids asked what the 4th dimension was), then I told him, then the teacher started talking about the theory of relativity for a very short time(I gained a small modicum of respect for her on that day) and I sat in my chair thinking about it for the rest of the period. Because math was seriously that boring. I'd rather be thinking of Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
"What do you have against Drake that is worth lying about Neri for?"
"Correction," Remiel says, "I lied about Drake. Not Neri. And I have nothing against Drake but that he won't hand over his salt so I can try to get your sword out of the slime it's stuck in."
Cause, I wanted to give him a chance to succeed, but I really, really, REAAAAALLLLLLY, want Drake to kick him in the face.... Again.
Okay, not to pick up a buried hatchet, but he had a 5% chance of success as compared to a 95% chance of failure... Honestly, why would you bother rolling?

For the hell of it, and we have found many times, that when you roll on something that has a very limited chance of success always freaking works.

Actually...that's just a trick your brain plays on you. It's only because you expect it to fail and it succeeds that you remember it at all. You only remember the successes, because they stick out in your mind, because they were conspicuous, because they were so unlikely. You forget about the failures because they were to be expected, and also because that's exactly what happens 95% of the time. Therefore, you only remember the successes, not the failures, so in retrospect it seems like the unlikely successes far outnumber the highly-probable failures, when in truth it's just your recollection of the event distorting the reality of it. I mentioned the 3:00 AM phenomenon with me, right?
