Sonata Arctica's song Victoria's Secret is one of my favorite songs by them (my favorite band)... i only have a foggy interpretation of the lyrics but the actual music is great. (in my opinion)

for those of you willing to listen to the song I'd like for you to tell me how you liked it and what your interpretation of the lyrics is

i prefer the live versions of their songs b/c SA live is absolute magic.... the album stuff is only surpassed by the live versions... it trumps any other band i've known w/ the exception of maybe Joe Satriani. they are possibly tied in that respect

lyrics:

The light escapes her room tonight.
Every little moment tells her, now it's time.
Opening a new scar, closing the wounds with a knife.
No more crying in the lanterns light...

Leave with the first light, go when you still see the moon.
Run for the sunlight, gate is now open for you.

Dancing on the path and singing now you got away.
You can reach the goals that you have set from now on , every day.
There is no way you would go back now, oh no, those days are past.
Life is waiting for the one who loves to live, and it is not a secret...

The Shades of darkness filled her life.
In every single corner you can not turn right.
Night could pass for a day, in her lack of faith, she let it all fade away.
Once more, a cry in the lanterns light...

Lost in the sunlight, leave, you will not see the moon.
Walk for the first time, no one has waited for you...

Dancing on the path and singing now you got away.
You can reach the goals that you have set from now on, every day.
There is no way you would go back now, oh no, those days are past.
Life is waiting for the one who loves to live, and it is not a secret...

Dancing on the path and singing now you got away.
You can reach the goals that you have set from now on, every day.
There is no way you would go back now, oh no, those days are past.
Life's there for the ones who love to live and take it all, for it is free...

Dancing on the path and singing now you got away.
You can reach the goals that you have set from now on, every day.
There is no way you would go back now, oh no, those days are past.
Life is waiting for the one who loves to live, and it is not a secret...

Personally, I love Sonata artica, especially Deathaura. I own a flag, resembling the days of grays. I don't really listen to them as much as I used to, and I don't own all their albums though. Anyway, they're a great band, and I'd love to see them live.

You sir have missed out on the bulk of Sonata

I count 9 albums in my itunes library and I've bought parts of several different partial albums they've released ;-).

The discography... (albums) that i have are (me thinks its complete w/ exception of redundant parts of partials...

album
Ecliptica
Silence
Winterheart's Guild
Reckoning Night
Unia
The Days of Grays
Takatalvi

live albums
For The Sake of Revenge
Songs of Silence

honestly, my opinion is that their live albums are just as good if not better than their studio work. I love the album versions which tells you just what i think of their live albums. I don't know if you use itunes or what your version of itunes is like... but over here in the states our possible SA itunes purches are very limited.

we only have
FtSoR
Reckoning Night
Unia
The Days of Grays
and a few partial albums.

the rest... I've had to buy. I had Ecliptica shipped all the way from Korea

rumor has it they're going to do another live album sometime in the next year w/ the days of gays and unia (and a mix of others) :-D.

You might also want to look at "THE NORTHERN KINGS" if you are an SA fan. Tony, the singer, is in a band with 3 other singers and they cover 1980s and 1990s famous pop songs... rumor has it their next album will have original content :3. If you like Nightwish then Marko Hietala is also one of the 4 kings.

I don't look at the NK's work as cover songs... i mean they are... but they've taken most of the songs and completely changed them. I don't call them cover songs b/c if I do i'll keep comparing them to the oldies. The old ones are great but people throw too much flack at cover songs just b/c the original singer didn't sing it.... and I actually like most of their songs more than the original.

Take on Me for example... completely different... its "like Ah-Ha made love to metal" as someone put it

there are alot of epic songs on each and every one of those albums friend.... you have alot of catching up to do.

and takatalvi is an album with mostly cover songs on it. Not knowing what any of the rest of it sounded like, I bought it strictly for Shy and Dream Thieves..... I was more than pleased with the rest of the album.

I've done some reading and research on other people's ideas about this song and how it is to be interpreted....

one of the most compelling arguments I've found states that this song is about a girl who is very sad and depressed... maybe b/c she's alone or abused... and she kills herself.

me thinks it could be interpreted in another way. Its possible she's in an abusive relationship and she's killing her abuser and escaping from that person into a better life.
