Kinect has an amazing amount of potential but MS may have somewhat rushed it to market so they didn't lose the entire motion-game segment to the Wii and now the PS3 with the Move.
Over the next three years Kinect may prove to become an amazing peripheral, the features and abilities of the sensors and cameras are simply better in every way than either the Wii or Move systems but right now there is simply no software that takes advantage of it. Once developers know the hardware better we'll start seeing some neat applications.
Until then it's really just a gimmick, both the Wii and the PS3 have better options if you're just looking for motion control.
yeah considering the motion sensors think black people are to dark and cant recognize them... good job microsoft yet again
That is absolutely incorrect. One reporter had problems back in '09 and one guy at E3 (out of around 6,000 that tried the demo) had problems. Both of them were using early tech demos and not anything approaching a finished product and no one has had issues with it since.
If the Kinect can't pick someone out in a room it means you need to turn on a light or move the existing light source somewhere it won't confuse the camera. The only thing that Kinect has been proven to have problems with are people sitting down, regardless of what color their skin is.
Kinect is overrated. Not only is it a fourth generation eye toy there's a 2 second lag time. Unlike the PS3's Move which fix's both of those problems and includes a six way eye toy for increase movemtment options.
