Everyone in America drinks bottles water and other bottled drinks. The plastics used in these bottles leach chemicals into their contents called pthalates (these are the esters that make the plastics softer and less prone to cracking)
What these pthalates do is mimic estrogen. There have been a few studies that show the effects of these chemicals in reducing the amount of males being born in women who have a pthalate intake, or reducing the amount of testosterone.
Do you think someday the males in our world will be a rare occurence?
Flip, could you please point me to the papers that indicate a decreased rate of male births in women who have a pthalate intake? I'd like to see if this is compatible with my understanding of what determines the sex of a baby.
Also, I wonder if it has anything to do with the claim that the male genome is "disappearing"...
OMG I didn't know that. Well I don't live in the USA and we don't use bottled water but I still think they should change it. If they go on like that for a long time(very long because there are like 6 billion people on the world and not all use bottled water) there will be no man left!!!! Aargh!!! But that will take very long and by than people won't use it anymore because they than realize there have to be enough people.
I had only heard a little bit about this, until my Global Issues professor spoke a little bit on the topic. I also saw a special on the news about this, and some other news paper articles recently.
lol When I said "Every one in America drinks bottled water" i didnt meant that this problem is only in the States. Anyone drinking bottled water or other plastic packaged products is possibly taking in phthalates.
I think that yes, that will aid in the reductions of males. As technology progresses men are being more obsolete. I mean this by the fact they can now formulate sperm from the bone marrow of a woman. Women already out-number males, and your population is steadily decreasing.
But, because of my sexuality I'm all for a woman-filled world!
