Taking in that money from the IMF was bad. It had to be done, however, because they (Ireland, I presume) really messed up. Now, we have an abundance of snow, and they (Again, I presume Ireland) is not gritting (putting salt on) the roads properly. {fix'd, Grammur Natzee}

I don't know what the IMF is, but I was under the pretense that Ireland was given money (80 billion Euros, I beleive) by the European Union (EU)

Thanks maverick.

Now that you have cleared that up, I can pose the question, what is the point of this thread? Is it for the OP to simply complain about the condition of Ireland's roads, or is it acctually going to prompt a conversation?

IMF is the International Monetary Fund I did hear that Ireland had to take a bailout, which obviously is an incredibly bad sign for the country. I just hope that no more countries will need a bailout, as that would probably lead to a full fledge economic meltdown if enough countries had an issue.

Portugal, Spain and perhaps Italy will follow.

The Irish government had a very flourishing financial position ante-crisis, actually Ireland was one of the most representative examples of the free market. Ireland had one of the highest Indexes of Economic Freedom.
However the Irish debt increased drastically because of the bailout that it furnished to private banks.
When the Government went to IMF and the E.U. passed the debt burden to the tax payers. The Irish citizens as individuals didn't have large debts, yet now they have to pay for the failures of these banks.
Plus, in all likelihood Ireland has already bankrupted, they are just trying to postpone the inevitable.

If spain and Italy need a bailout the EU will collapse, I think at the worst Portugal will need one. Germany at the moment is paying for the rest of europe due to ww2 guilt but they cant save everyone. If we dont stop Spain and Italy from needing a bailout the whole thing will collapse.
