Sazh from Final Fantasy XIII is a good example. He is the best character in the game personality wise(he is both smarter and more chill than the other characters), but because he played off as a racist joke. Does anybody else notice that this happens everytime final fantasy has a black character? I mean that are the most awesome guys, but they completely **** them up because they are so god **** racist.
but because he played off as a racist joke, is supposed to be but because he is played off as a racist joke, he only pisses me off. I don't know how to edit posts, Sorry.
1. Title changed to something short and slightly unrelated. Will change it to something else more related, when you find a proper title. (Final Fantasy characters makes black characters that would be awesome, but they suck because they...) 2. You can't edit posts.
Question: How is he played off as a racist joke? If he is smarter and more chill than the others, it sounds like it is... quite the opposite.
There hasn't been many black people in Final Fantasy.
Barret from FFVII.... foul mouth, shoot first, ask questions later.
Kiros from FFVIII, even though he wasn't really a main character, he was a dream character.... he was calm and collected.
Was there one in FFIX or FFX? Would Vivi count as a black character? He didn't exactly.... have a face... Hmm.... and FFX... not sure...Kimahri seems to be the only colored character. XD But he's blue.
Never played FFXI....**** MMORPGs wanting money...
FFXII... Reddas was black, and he ended up dying.
FFXIII... Sazh ... he came off as a coward at first, but gradually came into his own.
In FFVI.... they had a ninja and a yeti....does that count?
Not sure about the others, been a while since I played any of them... I guess I'll have to look into it some more... but there does seem to be at least a few colored characters in the FF Games....but like old school cliche horror movies, you don't see much of them, or they are killed off too quickly to really be noteworthy. Which I suppose could be deemed as "racist" but considering that they are Japanese games.... how many black Japanese people do you know?
It's kind of worth noting that Final Fantasy games are Japanese and they use stereotypes in popular culture very differently than we do in the US. I am assuming you are in the US, which may be a mistake on my part.
Simple racism isn't generally tolerated in any developed society but how broadly it is acceptable to represent cultures and races varies wildly from place to place.
