I worked on a Christmas tree lot last November and December. This obviously makes me an authority on the subject of Christmas, Christmas trees, and Christmas songs.
Real tree. Always, real tree. There is nothing like that smell. For those of you who have an issue with the mess, suck it up and get a vacuum (ha "suck it up" "vacuum". I guarantee the satisfaction from that REAL tree is going to outdo any convenience a fake one can give you.
I have an artificial tree. Less mess and work and look almost as nice.
It most certainly does not "look almost as nice".
Artificial:
1. Anti-flammable
2. Doesn't stink when the tree gets rotten
3. Don't have to fill the holder with water
4. Saves money
5. Re-usable
6. Don't have to go out in the cold to buy some real tree.
7. Lights come on it so we don't have to untangle them and go through that hassle.
I take issue with every one of these reasons.
1.Anti flammable=don't put your REAL tree next to something that can light it on fire.
2.Stink=don't keep your tree in your house long enough for it to get rotten. These big box stores like walmart sell you trees that were frozen and then brought out of storage for Christmas. On most Christmas tree lots, you find vital trees that are reasonably fresh. As long as you do your part and get it into water within an hour of removing from water, it will survive for weeks. Also, if you don't get it in water within an hour, it gives you an excuse to use power tools or a hand saw to cut something. That is just fun.
3.Fill holder with water=C'mon really? Really? Are we that lazy.
4.Saves Money= First off you only save money if you are the one who is actually buying the tree. Second, fake trees are expensive, and start to look like crap after enough time. Quality is the key, even if your fake tree looks mediocre and you save a bit of skrilla on it, it will never compare to the satisfaction you will feel gazing upon the REAL live tree that you have so tenderly cared for.
5. Re-usable=you've got me there.
6. Don't have to go out into the cold= You probably live somewhere cold. I notice people who live with the cold, don't enjoy it. Going out and picking a Christmas tree is cathartic. I guarantee if you go out and pick a tree for yourself, not for your family, but for you, maybe a Charlie Brown tree (if you don't get the reference than you are lost with no hope of returning, also your parents failed), you will love it more than that stupid fake thing you have immediately.
7. Lights come on it= If you keep your lights in order...it is not hard to remove them and place them on the tree.
I'm very passionate about this.
