Well, I was digging through some of my crap, and found a 30$ gift card to Books-a-million. It expires in about 8 months, and I was wondering what book(s) should I get?

I'm into philosophy, political science, military history, psycology, and mild(ish) fantasy (Harry Potter, Rangers Apprentice, etc)

So, what book(s) should I get? And remember, I have a BUDJET!

I would recommend picking up the first 3 books in the wheel of time series. It is a really good fantasy series that tends to be a bit long-winded, but has one of the best stories I have ever read.

Maybe The Tipping Point? Or other books by Malcolm Gladwell (check link). I haven't read them yet but my English teacher recommended them to me and our interests seem to be about the same.

I'd recommend 'The Stand' by Stephen King; it's a provocative novel. Very long though, upwards of one thousand pages.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy, if you enjoyed HP. It is making fun of both that and the Narnia series, while still being a really good story.

@acepilot0

Lookeing into Wheel of Time, and it seemed pretty good.

@samy

I've read Blink, which I'm pretty sure is the same author, so definately will look further into that one.

@Cinna

Sorry, got it from the library a while back. Still in my head, so probaly won't get.

@Cenere

So... something similar to Douglas Adams?

I would recommend looking into any of john ringo's series.

His books tend to cover everything your into. He sprinkles military strategy from fuedal to future settings, politics behind wars, and tend to involve very beleivable fantasy elements. All behind great story lines and very interesting reading. They do tend to get a little graphic though.

That it is, I've heard Outliers (same author) is also a fantastic read. I'm getting them for Christmas so if you can wait I could give a full report. Or you could just use the better reviews on Amazon right now.

But more awesome, more fantasy, and less obscure.
However, talking about Adams: There is the so called cult book "Good Omens" too. Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman co-working is quite awesome.
