right. i myself a couple of times just faced the fact that if i was a nerd- so what? I dont need a love life til im latr. Nerd actually is like a compliment. says your smart, and to some people reliable
there may be some legitimate basis for the correlations
There are people who are nerds are usually academic and people who are academic usually read a lot therefore people who are nerds usually read alot. Also reading puts your eyes under strain therefore academics/nerds people usually need glasses.
For example I read A LOT when I was in elementary school. Like 1/3 to 1/2 I spent reading anything I could get my hands onto. I once had this library goal thing which you had to read X amount of hours in 3 months and I usually reached that quota in like a week. So you can guess that after reading so much throughout my life I eventually deteriorated my vision to the point of needing glasses.
Also nerd is such a derogative term who have a passion for academic subjects.
girls always tell me i look really good in glasses, bummer that i have perfect vision :/
Oh if only you knew you could get frames that have plastic lenses that don't correct vision. But I find those people quite sad since glasses are a pain.

Very true. People who call you a nerd are most likely jealous of your intelligence or good grades.
But as far as the question goes, not all people with glasses are nerds. People need to realize that if someone has trouble seeing things from a distance or up close that they would need to have glasses because you can't get contacts right away.
I think that the stereotype has some truth to it. Whenever people read a lot, their eyes adjust to the closeness of the book, creating nearsightedness. So, "nerds" read a lot of books (presumably) so therefore, they eventually need glasses because their eyes adjust to reading up close all the time.
I'm a nerd with glasses...I think maybe it is random, and maybe it is because nerds tend to read more, and reading in low light is bad for your eyes. That might have some slight connection. What I'm really getting sick of is people asking if you can see without your glasses on. I mean, come on people! They're not magical anti-blindness tools, they're magnifying lenses! If I could not see, then glasses would do absolutely nothing. They improve sight when it's bad. I mean...glasses =/= blindness. >.<

well i know that theres those, but those are for tools. get glasses if you need them not cause you want them XD
*Yeaaah, another anime/manga/videogame/blaa-blaa-blaa lover! xD
I have glasses, and they're part of my everyday life, but I still feel sometimes pretty nerdy... And some people (mostly teenager girls, maybe, I'm not quite sure) are trying to, hmm, "go fastly out from my way"/ rejecting me.
One of those reasons why I feel like a nerd is, that *sigh* some people say that watching old Disney cartoons (Ok, I quess I made up this one all by myself, but still) are for nerds and little children.
There's nothing bad about classics, really. I quess, what I just wrote was pretty made up, right (The hating parts)?
The only times I really wear glasses is if I need to read something really far away, but I do use them for the computer. I use them for the computer because it just makes everything way clearer for me to see. So far I haven't had a problem with any name calling at all because of glasses.
I don't think there's a problem with watching cartoons. Sometimes I watch cartoons if any classics are actually on for example courage the cowardly dog or ed, edd, and eddy. I do watch family guy, American dad, etc.. anything on adult swim and I like them.
