Ok I'm gonna make games with Flash.
I know the latest version is 5 but on the Internet I only found tutorials for older versions and most of AG games are made with an older version. So is ActionScript different from a version to another? And do you know if it's possible to get an old version?
Thanks

I have CS 5 and you can learn to use it from manual for CS 4 . I think new is better than old, so it's up to you what will you buy

The newest version of flash is flash cs5 (the 11th version of flash), it uses flash player 10.1 and has the newest version of AS3. AS2 has not been upgraded since flash 8, it uses flash player 8. It should also be noted, that versions of flash before flash cs3 do not have AS3. Yes, there are changes in ActionScript between versions of flash, but most core classes (such as MovieClip) change little version to version. Finally, you can buy old versions of flash, but as previously mentioned newer versions have more features.

No true. Adobe pumps out the new version basically just to make money. As long as you have the newest actionscript version it's really the same thing. Also if you don't know how to use all the old features then getting a new version is pointless, and if you need new ones desperately then that's the only reason why to get a the new versions.
