There are several hypotheses on the subject, one that comes to mind is that our universe goes through an endless cycle of expanding to the point where it collapses on itself, then it is back to the ball of energy which once again expands.
I think that's M-theory in which our universe is created when two Membranes interacting by the means of some sort of collision generating most likely a hyper dense mass and our universe.
The shape of the universe would indicate this isn't the case. Though there are plenty of other hypothesis out there. It's even possible the singularity didn't necessitate a beginning.
Source? Scientist's have no clue on the true geography of our universe or even our position on it.
But frankly who gives a ****
With that kind of an attitude why did you even make a thread?
ok well first of all, gravity is proven, just not really explained too well, einstein tried to, but his stuff was all just him thinking, so its not 100% credible, and if you don't believe me, drop a pencil, boom, gravity. and like i just said on another thread, the unierse or "space" as you put it, isn't nesicarrilly something with a beginning and an end, so it was never created, it just is.

Of course it's invisible intangible pixies pulling the pencil to the ground. (If you can realize why we don't accept invisible pixies as a reasonable explanation then you also can realize why God isn't a reasonable explanation either.)
Also the flat model is just the most popular which isn't much since we don't understand the universe so it's hard to guess the overlying structure of it.

There is not such thing as 100% credible. I don't even 100% believe that you are real or that this is some brain-in-vat scenario.

Well "our" universe is finite. I think your thinking more of the multiverse or something along those lines which might be infinite.

August 2009 isn't that badly out of date and it still says the same thing your link is saying, that the universe is likely flat within a 2% margin of error. I would hardly dismiss the the evidence indicating this on lack of knowledge.
