Being that AG members consist of a plethora of different nationalities I'd like to have a mature discussion. Personally, I am an American who was raised in south Mississippi (Katrina clean up was fun btw). I would like to know what the rest of the world's.... and nation's... views are of Americans in general and/or their views of the Americans that hail from the southern states. The media often portrays the world view of the US in certain ways and I would just like to see if those views are truly held by other people. If they're bad or somewhat negative stereotypes, but they're presented respectfully then you'll have no qualms with me. It takes someone trying a little bit harder than that to offend me.
....and if you would like to request what the outside view of people that live where you do is then with respect I'll tell you my first impression when i hear that region mentioned.
I would like to keep this thread up and going so that we can learn from our multinational brethren. so that we may correct any problems we have and make better first impressions with the people we meet in life. In this way we could all help better ourselves...
I won't just start defining nationalities or regions just yet... i'll wait and see if any one is interested first ( and if i gets a lock :'( )
From what i heard from my friends and random people I've met. They think Americans are: Fat, stupid, violent, rednecks, way too religious, etc. Canadians: **** is allowed in Canada(I was like 'lol wut?' at that one XD), hippies, weed, etc.
south USA is full of religious inbreeding idiots with guns
most everyone in America has a gun... the south just has a lot of rifles and shot guns. most of the time I associate hand guns, automatic weaponry, and shanking with the north... general gang violence

my college has a program where those who want to, and can afford it, can study abroad... most that go into that program go to do a semester in london. of all of them i talked to that went... most were from Mississippi. granted all they took were core classes but all of them said that the core classes there in London were easier than those they had taken thus far at my college. maybe they went to an easy school or maybe they just took easy classes... or maybe they're all just really good students... i can't make any conclusions w/ the small amount of data that i have. ...just some food for thought
....and most of those shot guns and rifles are used for hunting b/c a large part of the population goes deer hunting (and for random other critters) during the respective hunting seasons. they don't just have guns just because they want to (having w/o any apparent use)
Skip ahead to MC Canadian Stereotype, since that is part of the topic, but still enjoy the whole song. As you all can guess, everyone makes fun of each others accents, but all for jokes. McDonalds is great, don't get me wrong but when you eat it everyday and don't exercise you get fat. I only have it maybe 1 time every few months
Since the OP asked: Mostly fat lazy and unintelligent people or unintelligent people obssessed with looking attractive in unhealthy ways. They hate it when people are clearly smarter than them. All their culture is based on is racist, hypocritical religious veiws and they aren't tollerant of non patriots and totally different cultures/veiws of their own.
These are all stereotypes....................................hopefully.
While on the subject of steryotypes, does anyone believe that all stereotypes are based on fact? Allbeit twisted, exagerratd fact. I do.
i believe that there are a very small number of radicals in any given social/cultural/whathaveyou group that ruin the image of that group and because of that the rest of the world unjustly treats that group with disdain.
example... last i checked... Mormons no longer believed in polygamy. The faith had to renounce that belief before Utah would be allowed to become a state. Now you have a few radicals that go and make their own little cults. These cults are the only ones shown in the media... therefore everyone thinks the entire group is bad.
muslims.... the suicide bombers are like 1 in a million compared to the rest of the faithful. the others don't claim them and say they're crazy.... while the bombers themselves claim to subscribe to that very faith... and because of that the actual members that are peaceful are ignored and everyones like OMG MUSLIMS!!! From what i hear Muslims actually preach peace just as much as anyone else...if not moreso
