what are your thoughts on the game? do you think it's for overweight nerds? or is it better than video games?

My personal opinion is that in fact it's way better than today's video games and gets you into that imagination you had when you were little

I think it's better than some of today's video games and I do like how it gets you're imagination going but I don't play that often now. I've also been hearing rumors that the game get's some people into the occult and all that.

The occult rumors were targeted at all of Wizards of the Coast, though focused on D&D, and it was complete BLAM. It was orcastraited by extreme right wing ultra-religious mega-Conservatives. (No, I'm not a Liberal wackjob, I'm a moderate Conservative) The allegations arose because they had demons in the game... AS ENEMIES. D&D is better than some video games, but Halo and its ilk are still much better, though.

Its very fun from what I've experienced of it. I have played some video games based in the Forgotten Realms, using 3.5 rule sets and classes. Things like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate.

I am hosting a D&D 3.5 Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting in the forum games, for anyone who is interested, I am always looking for players, the more the merrier! My experience of D&D has always been good, I started playing when I was 5 (if you can call it playing) and have been an addict ever since. I find 4th ed. D&D to be a horrible example to the entire series, and Gary Gygax would turn over in his grave if he sawe what his system has become. It's funny actually, my dad talked to the legend himself just a few months before he died(Gygax, that is) and was a rather interesting person to talk to. The Occult thing started because of the demon on the cover of the original Player's Handbook (3.5 Player's Handbook II is what is basically looked like) and a lot of cultists happened to like the game. It was oneof those stereotypes, if you are into D&D, you MUST be associated with the occult, ignorance at it's finest!

Again, anyone who is interested in joining my game, ALWAYS accepting players.

I played it to see what all the hype was about it. But the game doesn't really appeal to me.
I admit it's good, just not for me.

When I play, I'm usually a cleric with fire and magic domains. I never heal people. I also get the second rank of weapon proficency so I can use greatswords.

Overpowered much?

Not really, I know this guy who thinks, and I quote:

Clerics are the best class ever, they can equal any other class, if you know how to play them right!

I don't agree with this statement, but apparently his GM lets him get away with a bunch of crap, like "spelling up" before every single combat, and super-powered artifacts that should be impossible to find, real cheap **** like that. My favorite classes would have to be the Ranger and Druid, especially Elven w/ Wolf Companion and eventually Brown Bear, I always go for Archery too!

What, you thought you were the only one who was into that kind of thing SirNoobalot? I have been playing for 13 or so years, so when I say Elf is my favorite race and Druid/Ranger are my favorite classes, I MEAN IT!(jk) I have played all classes and races at least once in my life, but those have been my favorites from the get-go.
