He did a few odd jobs, eventually worked as a deckhand, met the ship's Druid (for weather control and all), became his apprentice, did that for a while, ship crashed on a shore, most everybody died, the few left alive joined the island's tribe, a year and a half later, a rescue party came, he stayed on the island, he eventually became chief (getting his red tattoos for being such), after 20 years of being chief, he left the island*, he met the party.
*After he left, a human woman had his child. She grew up on the island, she left when she was 26 (a year ago), she was going to be in this party, I decided to use this character instead.
