Mostly because I absolutely ADORE death metal is it that i find Slipknot superior to stone sour. Not that Taylor's non growl-voice isnt beautiful, i just prefer the growls. The eight members of the band create a sense of fullness to the music, unaccomplished by many modern artists nowadays. SLIPKNOT IS ******!
Slipknot sucks. I don't want to think of death, pain, misery, or anything else when I alive and happy.
That's part of my problem, it's not even the style of singing, it is just that it's all about being rejected and bullied and cutting yourself and yada yada. I enjoy darker music, but I want to to feel stronger, or angry, not more depressed. It's the same problem I have with Korn.
Get rid of everyone but Jordison and Taylor, that's what I say. Those are the only two people who actually have some talent.
I have to disagree. I think that Jim Root is a very good guitarist. Sure, he uses basic techniques, but let's see some of you guys try to play the riffs and solo for, oh let's say, "Psychosocial" for example.
Jordison should join Stone Sour and then Slipknot should dissolve, because Stone Sour is, in my opinion, better than Slipknot.
Ultimately, that depends on the type of music you like in general, but I prefer Slipknot over Stone Sour.
Taylor's voice is a lot better when he's not trying to death growl.
Agree with you 100% there, but I do like his attempts at growling in some songs. He does it fairly good.
Now back on topic, does Slipknot need all of their members? Of course not. You can have a pretty good band with just a singer, guitarist (bass or electric or acoustic), and a percussion section (1 person works fine, don't really understand the whole concept of having like a dozen percussionist, but alright).
They made good song. I think the best in heavy metal.
I do believe Slipknot is Nu-Metal, not heavy metal.

I don't really get why people care about what the music means. People like Kesha talk about getting wasted and she is really famous. Eminem talks about death pain and misery and he is one of the most famous people around.
I like Grunge, Indie, and the classics such as the Who, Beatles, etc. I don't like Black Sabbath, AC/DC, or Kiss however since their voices sounds too load. Black is Back, his voice is screaming. I don't like that. Kiss is okay, but really dirty. Black Sabbath is too dark.
Slipknot is rap and metal, two of the things I dislike. I'm okay with rap from Kid Cudi, Drake, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, and Tupac Shakur. The ones who don't rap about sex and money.
