There's a new format developed here in the Netherlands, called "The Voice Of Holland"...
This format provides a chance for men and women who want to make it in the music business, but don't make it with other talent shows that look at the 'X-factor' of a person instead of their voice capabilities... in this show the judges are turned with their back towards the stage and have the choice to turn their chairs the other way when they hear a beautiful voice to start coaching them. The person auditioning can then choose who he/she/they want to work with to try and make it to the final of the show.
According to several sources in the Netherlands, this format has already been sold to other countries for further development there, including the United States as a competitor for shows like "X-factor" and "America's Got Talent"...
Now... the main reason for me to start this topic is the confirmed (tonight) finalist of this show "Ben Saunders"!
This guy has a bit of a 'rough appearance' looking like a rocker with all his tattoos, but he has a golden voice to match his sweet character and has been able to be the man to beat ever since the beginning of the show over a month ago!
And here are some videos of the songs he sang so far in the show for you to judge, comment on and discuss! I'm sorry, commentaries are mostly in Dutch, but it's the singing part you need to hear!
WOW... he really took me by suprise... you definitely can't judge this book by his cover. He really has one of the few voices I've heard that can do these songs justice. I'm curious to see just how far he will go w/ his career. I'll be following his work
He's currently received a 'golden record' for sales on his cover of Simply Red's 'If you don't know me by now', so he's doing pretty great I say! The show isn't even finished yet and he's already aiming for the stars! =D
im dutch myself, and i believe that this is the first show that may actually deliver a truly good artist, because after a few years, nobody remebers the winners of things like idols an popstars.
his brother dean won popstars in the same week, they got an award ceremony in their hometown for that accomplishment, its really cool.
