Ender's game.... nuff said.... this turned more than 4 people I know that HATE reading to a sci fi fans... It is (to my opinion), be far the best book anyone can read...
I don't think that's a "book for the mind" though it's just an interesting to read. I like The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy series, it's funny and has some philosophy in it.
