This is a case that will be going to the Supreme Court and basically, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be suing Entertainment Merchants Association because allow underage children play violent video games where you can have sex, use sex toys, and murder people. He believes that children under the age of 18 should not be allowed to play games that are rated M for Mature.

Personally, I think he will win. I don't think the Supreme Court would think it'd be fine to let children do that. I wish they wouldn't vote in favour of it, but I think it'll be at least 7-2.

I don't have anything to back this up, but to me it seems that you'd have to be either a sociopath already or just plain stupid for a game to affect you so much that you think killing is funny.

I've met some screwed people be4 and all of em were allowed to play rated M games before they even hit 8

I started playing Duke Nukem 3d when I was about 6. I've continued to play violent video games since then, I don't think killing people is cool.

Guys, go talk about what happens when you play lots of video games in some other thread. For the last time, who do you think will win the case?

KEVIN, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHO WE THINK WILL WIN.

We are including WHY.

Parents, the state is not a nanny. Kindly grow a pair and start being a parent

This pretty much sums up how I feel. If the parents are the ones purhcasing these games, and the kids are playing them and the parents have a problem with it... GROW A F***ING PAIR YOU STUPID DEGENERATE! I don't think that the Government should have anysay in what video games we play. The same way that they shouldn't be allowed to monitor what television shows we watch. Honestly, I pray to god that the EMA wins this battle. If they don't then another of our rights will be tarnished, if not completely taken away.

Just some posts on the last page. Seems like you guys really are talking about EMA and Schwarzenegger.

I always thought that those really violent games suggested that too you you ever played a game and got a bloodlust? Just started killing things with the weakest weapon and watched em die slowly? Maybe I got some deeper problem like you said but I think some games encourage that.

If that happens its not from the video games, its either some deeper problem or the kids parents taught them that.

Yes Kevin, we're talking about whether or not the EMA is responsible for what happens, which is directly related to who we think will win. Most people have already posted who they think will win the first time they posted.

Well yes, but there are still others who have only talked about how it is their parents fault for letting their children play those games. I want to know what any good arguments would be. Most of the &quotarent's fault" argument have led to things that are off topic, such as Duke Nukem.

Tangents are not actually going off-topic, as long as by resolving the tangent, we also affect some component of the debate in the main issue.

I want the discussion to go in either two ways, who you think will win and why, and the counter.

Often, it is useful to see the ideas behind the politics.

Heres a little RL experience:

I give my mom 60 USD. She picks up Fallout 3, the vendor scans her ID, my 'mom' buys Fallout 3. We go home, she gives Fallout 3 to me, and I play to my hears content (or until my time is up.)

The point is, as long as my mom buys the M-Rated game, it is legal. Its obvious who would be playing it, and the vendor even told ME to enjoy. So I'm not in any current violation of the law. And it would be impossible to enfore, without telescreens, or an Orwellian Police State reminescent of 1984.

Historicaly, the EMA would win. And its just someone blaming the Distributor, rather than the Producer.

I've seen vendor's in Toys are us sometimes let a kid buy a M game by himself, they don't really care it's not like if would matter to the casheir if they sell it to a kid or to an adult.

I've worked there and if they find out you did that without carding them you lose your job.

What is it with 1984 these days? Maybe the government watches you through your computer camera? A new "telescreen." OOOOOOOOH...
