I ran a full system scan a few days ago, Norton Antivirus 2010. The software stated that it scanned about 260,000 files.
Just today I scanned my computer again. I have not deleted any files, or programs or anything. The software (Norton Antivirus 2010) stated that it scanned only about 160,000 files.
I've noticed the number of files fluctuate before, but never by this much. It's about a 100,000 file difference.
My theory is that my computer has gotten a bad virus and that the virus is actually stopping Norton Antivirus from scanning the whole computer. So, although, the software says I have no viruses found, this is only because the virus itself has stopped the scan early.
Well OP I can tell you my personal secret to success 1. Get AVG free and have a full computer scan run twice a week 2. Get Malwarebytes and run a scan about every 3 weeks or so, just on occasion
The two programs will not conflict with each other (Possibly contrary to popular belief) Also defrag your harddrive regularly and run hard disk cleanup occasionally Do that and I can almost guarantee your PC will run smoothly
