The ad on the home page it making my computer take 13 times longer to load it than usual, and then when it finishes loading I only get a black thing where the ad should be.
Skater, be careful about these kinds of accusations. /glare
Of *course* we care. We work with our advertisers to make sure that things like a "site skin" ad (like the Runescape ad we had this weekend) is as simple as possible so it doesn't cause performance problems. I personally tested the ad on several systems and browsers (because I'm primarily the one who puts them on the site), and I didn't notice any slow down whatsoever.
Keep in mind that the bulk of our income as a company comes from that ad revenue, and that's how we pay for great game developers to work for Armor Games like John, Joey, Tony, Louissi, Con, Krin, CoolioNiato, and others.
If your computer performance seems bad, my recommendation is to try a different browser, like Google Chrome, and see if it still happens. Also, check if you have other software running at the time which might use up CPU time or RAM on your system.
What Im NOT enjoying, is the ads b4 games. Its really, really, really starting to put me off. To give you an idea of how much it puts me off, yaknow the vevo ads on youtube... I avoid vevo like the plague now. I will happily go to someone else's lower quality vid instead.
Sadly the ads in the games are the only way for developers to get some bucks on AG and keep in mind that in many site they have a fake loading before the starting of the game, and then maybe the ad of the developer. Other than that, I really don't like mochi ads. That's junk. Luckily most ag devs like krin and herointeractive use CPMstar, far more serious.
I dont mind the normal ads for the developers etc... but I dont want these products crossing my screen before a game. They last 30 seconds and make me want to turn the game off.
