What would you consider a awesome band? A band that is memorable and had a lot of good hits.

I start with the band Rolling Stones, who performed for almost 50 years straight! I would not say that is my favorite band, but the fact that they survived the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and the new millenium really says something about them, especially Keith Richards! They have about 15 hits I really like, including (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Paint it Black, Mother's Little Helper and It's Only Rock 'N' Roll. Sympathy For The Devil sounds good musically speaking, but the message of the song is ultimately askew and questionable in my opinion. I don't want a bunch of Bieber haters here, there are other places to hate the #7 googled WOMAN of all time! I agree though, he sucks, I just don't want anymore hatin' goin' on. Any thoughts, opinions, bands you think rule, or disagreements about the Rolling Stones as a good band?

I would consider a band that I think has a good sound and writes good music an "awesome band". Whether or not everyone else likes them, that's a different story. Its really subjective.

Sadly, no they're not popular xP. Kinda sad being the black sheep in the herd.

Anyhow, I consider a band good when it has good musicianship, they're good at performing, and when the music is all in all enjoyable.

How about Collective Soul? It's a newer band, but I like it, and I always hear it playing at Freebirds World Burrito(Texas Mexican version of Subway) and a lot of people I've talked to at school like them. I particularly like the song "Why, Pt 2". I guess they are considered Rock, not too sure though... Any opinions?

I think a good band is defined by how it sounds period. The message they convey is secondary, but not completely unimportant to the quality. I have a large list of bands I listen to as you can see, most of which are major bands from the time period between the 50's and 80's, and I base my list on what sounds good to me. I have a lot of songs I like, but I have a few songs that I really like, but that doesn't stop me from listening to songs I just like. I also classify based on Album quality, like Pink Floyd, for example, always makes the songs in their albums flow together, making it so you feel like you need to listen to the whole album, not just the songs that are good. It also seems like you are listening to one really long song that changes direction every few minutes, which I have found to be awesome. I sometimes tune into the music so much, I feel like I'm high on acid or something, but in truth I've never even touched alcohol or smoked a cigarette. Of course, since I've never actually used drugs, I don't really know what that feels like, but I bet it's not far off. I wonder aloud, is music truly the heart of your soul? I believe it, and I have listened to several albums, artists, and songs that stand as my evidence. I challenge anyone to say that one of the bands on my list sucks! If you think there is one, tell me the name and why you think it sucks.
