Which songs have been covered by other artists but are better than the original?

Man Who Sold the World - David Bowie; Covered by Nirvana
Nirvana's sound just sounds slower. The song really sounds like a slow song, not a fast one like how David Bowie did it.

War Pigs - Black Sabbath; Covered by Cake
Black Sabbath's sound is loud and metallic. Cake's is soft and smooth. Even though War Pigs' lyrics are dark, Cake does a great job.

Never, Ever Gonna Give You Up - Barry White; Covered by Cake
Barry White's voice leads the melody, and I don't really like songs like that. Cake backs up the voice with instruments.

The Guitar Man - Bread; Covered by Cake
Both are good, but Cake just sounds better.

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor; Covered by Cake
Both are really nice. They are equal.

There is no way that a cover is better. You may prefer it more, but the original is the way its supposed to be played or it wouldn't have been played that way.

Have to disagree with you there. Nobody can match Dio's voice.

That's pretty true, I like Dio's voice better, but I like the instruments in Hammerfall's version better.
