You unlock armatars by getting Armor Points. The higher the amount of AP needede to get an armatar, the rarer it is. Although some are simply not used.

The weird ones are seasonal ones made by the users in the armatar contests. Sadly they died after Carlie's quitting D:

well i seen someone say onetime that some of them are seasonal or something and once that season is over it gets removed but it would be nice to have a rare one that barely any one has

The reason this is not allowed is because it would take much more moderation for avatars, as people have a tendency to idiotic things like post inappropriate images as icons.

And they might be old seasonal armatars people have. We don't have them anymore.
