Why is America so arrogant? We who live in America think that all our ideas are the best, our way of living is great for everyone and that anyone who doesn't do it our way, should. Then we decide to go over to the Eastern world that is dominated by a primarily Muslim culture, and decide to take a government that isn't run by a religion and force it onto those that are. America recreated Israel. Then we decide that going over to Iraq and taking out their leader and trying to impose our way of life on them was a good idea. We live in a perminant state of hate and misunderstanding between our counterparts in the Eastern world, and we don't care. Americans think that since we have the best way of life, that everyone should follow our example if they want to prosper. Oh, wait, we are running on China's money, our banks are to stupid to understand money, and we decide to bail out giant motor vehicle companies, because we can. It seems to me that we don't really have any clue as to what makes a country prosper. We keep barely getting by on the seat of our pants, and then we have the gaul to try to force our ideas, morals and culture on a completly different civilization.
Why do we do that? What conceviable reason is there for the US to try to force it's failing way of life on another part of the globe.
Oh, this discussion was started in my English class today...
Why does know one understand what irony is? You see how annoying that is?
da ****?
Anyway, irony is when something you expect does not happen.
And you weren't doing that at all. You were using Brittan's position to deny claims about the US. This was utterly non sequitur.
I like how you dodge my claim how I was not debating Britain. If anything, I am insulting Britain, but I am not. Many Brits would tell you that Britain used to be imperialistic. It is nothing to be ashamed about. What happened happened and there is nothing to do about it.
Now, however, we need to stop being imperialistic and be more isolationist.
Morality is just a descriptor of a type of behavior. I happen to think that morality is best described as optimal group behavior. For fish this is swimming in schools. For humans, it encompasses quite a bit.
Didn't I mention fuel? It's like an engine. You put in gas, it runs. Does that mean it's alive? In the case of stars and pearls and whatnot, they grow by fuel. Instead of running, it grows. You get my point?
You are aware that living creatures need fuel to grow, are you not? Yes? Then abandon your current train of thought. Truth Station is in the opposite direction.
Sorry if you don't like my arguements. In the case of the 'Big Bang' theory, when the universe expanded, the rapid expansion caused the planets to spin. The spinning + gravity made the circle/oval path they follow. End of story.
I know how planets work. You said living creatures can move. You did not say how.
I'm not saying that they always get damaged during their lifetime. They get damaged during the way out of the womb or were born mutated.
So were corpses. Also: complete androgen insensitivity syndrome is not damage D:
Anyway, irony is when something you expect does not happen.
Wikipedia has a good article on irony, for a more complete definition.
I like how you dodge my claim how I was not debating Britain.
I never said you were. No one here is debating anything.
Ad hominem attacks don't need the context of a debate. They often come up in polemic arguments like this one.
Irony is hard to define, but I think I did a pretty good definition.
Good here is subjective. I don't think it was a good definition, but it was good for the context. And you're right, it is tricky to define. Hard to not give the wrong idea.
Fair enough. Though as a male I don't think it is too arrogant to advocate female rights.
Advocating women's rights isn't arrogance. I meant the entire institution of cultural imperialism is a bit arrogant. I'm still a proponent of it.
Looks to me like the European Union beat us on two of them.
Yes, but remember, teh EU is a collection of some of the most advanced nations on teh planet, and the topic i was focused on, teh banking, we were on top.
Have you looked at China, South Korea or Japan recently? They are pretty much dominant in the technology department. Especially robotics.
I will disregard Technology, as no one can truly grasp the potentiality of any piece of tech. Quite frankly, Ireland could be holding god **** ray guns from mars, as long as if they keep it secret. so enough w/ teh tech talk.
There is no way that we are cool now, just because Russia is a democracy. Tension is still there becuase of the cold war, and the fact that we are just to close, country-wise, to Russia for their comfort.
Democracies work together to unite the world for FREEDOM. as soon as Russia became a democracy, it joined the fight for a FREE WORLD. Vladimr understands that we wanted to blow his nation half to hell because the USSR was teh "Evil Empire" that's all in the past. Don't let video games tell you ****, Russia and the US are chill. and Russia is pretty close to a LOT of nations. I think Poland is closer to industrialized russia than we are... yea, they are. so why is proximity and issue? 90% of canadians live within 100 miles of the US, and we don't have tension with them!
Now I have heard Russia made Israel, and Britain. Watch this. It is quite helpful.
Britain controlled much of the Middle East after WW2, and because they controlled the land, they got to decide what to do with it. In essence, Israel was created for a GOOD PURPOSE. the Arabs just got fed up because of god **** religion and can't learn to live with their neighbors.
True, but we had already started a war with the people who actually did it, so why attack Iraq as well?
You do know that the "War on Terror" is a figure of speech, right?
Oh, okay, that makes it all better, right? He may have had weapons of mass destruction, or may not have. Either way, we have to attack him to make sure. >_>
When a radical dictator who invades nearby countries for little to no reason (Kuwait, Iran) could also have nuclear weapons, it is in the best interest of the powers at large to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction are not used for purposes of evil and terrorism against the FREE WORLD.
It's actually starting to get a little pathetic with how little you know about how world politics work.
You are aware that living creatures need fuel to grow, are you not? Yes? Then abandon your current train of thought. Truth Station is in the opposite direction.
Everything uses fuel to some extent. Electronics and cars and whatnot are not alive, and they use fuel. Yes? No? Stars and crystals can be looked at in the same way. Simply complex machines. If you want to get technical, everything that saps fuel is alive. Happy?
You said living creatures can move. You did not say how.
What do you mean? Everything living uses some sort of fuel. Things grow, reproduce, etc.
So were corpses. Also: complete androgen insensitivity syndrome is not damage D:
I did say mutation, if it can be called that.
Anyway, irony is when something you expect does not happen.
Wikipedia has a good article on irony, for a more complete definition.
Yeah, irony is a little more complex than that. Like you talk about something happening and it happens. Falala.
All of us can keep going and saying our various reasons. however, without really living in these volatile countries, and first hand seeing whats going on, it is hard to make judgement. There is completely corrupt things going on in these countries compared to what we are actually told. State run media? No outside media sources? Libya... Two jets crashed after not dropping bombs on the people like they were told... Who knows what's going on there really!
When a radical dictator who invades nearby countries for little to no reason (Kuwait, Iran) could also have nuclear weapons, it is in the best interest of the powers at large to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction are not used for purposes of evil and terrorism against the FREE WORLD.
So the US basically saying to the UN "Shove it up your ***" was in the best interest of the world? We went in there with no support whatsoever from the UN, just becuase we think we are somehow above them.
I will disregard Technology, as no one can truly grasp the potentiality of any piece of tech. Quite frankly, Ireland could be holding god **** ray guns from mars, as long as if they keep it secret. so enough w/ teh tech talk.
Ignoring the topics in which I obviously outright disproved you isn't helping your stance at all. If no one on the planet knows who has what technology, than how can you make the assumption that the US has the best stuff? Your own logic disproves you.
It's actually starting to get a little pathetic with how little you know about how world politics work.
Touche.
Britain controlled much of the Middle East after WW2, and because they controlled the land, they got to decide what to do with it. In essence, Israel was created for a GOOD PURPOSE. the Arabs just got fed up because of god **** religion and can't learn to live with their neighbors.
Did you even bother to watch the video? Honestly, look at the links people post.

Okay, a couple things here...
1. When a country becomes a democracy, it does not automatically become "chill" with one of it's most hated adversaries for the past couple hundred years. Changing government is one thing, changing how the people feel about something is entirely different.
2. Russia is near a couple dozen different countries. They just happen to have disliked the US a lot more than most of the other countries, in the past.
3. Canadians and Americans are "chill" because we have never had any problem with the Canadians that caused deepset angst and problems. Our border with Canada is one of the most open and friendly borders on the planet. Of course they don't fear us! We are basically sister countries!
Oh, and bro, try to cut down on the swearing just a tad. A couple choice words here and there aren't bad, but I count three in just one post. You are gonna get blocked if you keep that up...
