I just got done reading a Game Informer article about Battlefield 3, and from the looks of it Call of Duty doesn't even stand a chance. With the decline in general quality of COD games since Cod 4 and how outdated the COD engine is becoming, the only way that Activision can save it is to step up their game. The current COD engine is no match the Frostbite 2 engine overall and unless Activision does something about this then they will be left in the dust. If Activision hopes to compete this year then they are going to have to pull a trick out of their sleeves, and a major one at that. Unless the can make a major advancement in the COD series or the COD engine this year might signal the rise of Battlefield as the dominant FPS
This post has been the honest opinion of a hardcore gamer and highly experienced Call of Duty player I now open up the floor for discussion on the topic.
i shake my head at anyone who owns another call of duty game since cod4 and then bought black ops. cause you essentially bought the same game. way to waste 60 bucks
Now, I've heard that Activision might introduce a pay-to-play feature for CODs multiplayer.
Well, if that happens, I won't even bother getting the new CoD games.
Now, I'm not a huge CoD fan, but I usually get the new games they come out with because the multiplayer is like crack; it's pretty awesome for a good couple of weeks. But, overall, Battlefield crushes it in almost every aspect, as the multiplayer and singleplayer is always fun to rely on, and the graphics actually look good. Plus, they actually have a destruction system, one thing CoD sadly lacks.
Pretty soon here, Battlefield is gonna be back on the top. I'm totally buying B3 when it comes out; it looks so fun!
Now let me divulge my theory about Bad co; the destruction system.
I think that DICE needed to perfect the new frostbite engine, and to do so they divulged in the consoles of the time in experimental games, games that tested the engine, the Bad co. games. This is why in the GI article they said they didnt expect BFBC2 to do so well. This Bad co. spinoff series was an experiment with us console gamers to try and make the eventual PC game more ******. I found this experiment quite beneficial, no?
