A man has been sued by one of his employees who had stolen off him. His employee was writeing himself bussiness checks and taking them to the bank and cashing in. When his boss found out he put a sign around his neck saying:
'I am a theif I have stolen' and marched him to the police station. The theif got more than £15'000 off his boss for Human Right's and Humiliation. Basiccly this man has robbed his boss twice but a second time legally. He has also got out of prison and has not had to pay his boss back for stealing off him. I myself think this is a disgrace from the English Court, and that the theif should be put away and his boss should get his money back. Comment on your thoughts of this 'action' that the English law has let slip past them.

Yes but the man who robbed the boss was much younger than his boss the boss was around 54 and could of been attacked by the theif so it was for bth or there saftey

Well, the article said the following:

When Mr Cremer was alerted to the breach of trust he was furious and arranged for his brother Andrew and two employees to help him tie Gilbertâs hands behind his back when he came into the office.

That makes it a total of four against one. I don't think the boss was in any real danger.

in the 60's, little kids were getting beaten with paddles if they disobeyed the teacher. now a thief gets to sue for 15,000 just because he had a cardboard sign on his neck? Oh the humanity!

Don't you love the progression of 'morality'?

The thief defiantly should have been punished. The boss probably should have humiliated the guy but it wasn't grounds for a lawsuit. The thief had already given away all dignity by stealing.

So, we've gotten over beating our children and have begun to realize that all human beings are deserving of rights; you're point is that justice in the 60's was more fair?

it wasn't grounds for a lawsuit

What he did was illegal .

Are you kidding? If the boss would have called the police the employee wouldn't have even known! You can't purposefully put yourself in danger and then plead self defense.

@samy-

kids being beaten if they DISobeyed the teacher was a physical form of saying not to do it again. a little cardboard sign over some guys neck because he was stealing from his boss somehow gets 15000? my point was that humans have gotten so so weak about justice that they let a theif earn money and a victim have to pay.

It's a on going debut. I read a story in the paper a couple of weeks ago, about a theif who broke into a house and burnt his hand on a object can't recall what it was. He sued the family that owned the house he broke into and won. I really don't no were justice lies these days

Right, that explains why crime has been decreasing since the Great Depression correct? Punishment policies change because we learn that they are more effective, and less physically painful, ways to rehabilitate the individual.

Justice is subjective, true justice is rehabilitation of the individual to create a new fully functioning member of society; too many people attempt to project ancient ideas of "karma" on what they perceive to be justice.

It's illegal.

See that's ridiculous, that wasn't the families fault. Also a link to that story?

Again, justice is nothing more than humanities attempt to create a system the forces punishment on individuals due to misguided notions of karma. Basically, if you do something bad something bad should happen to you.

This is almost as bad as that thief who broke into a house and slipped on a toy and broke his leg. He sued the homeowners and won! Of course this is over here in the American judicial system but its just as bad! It is things like these that almost make me not want to pursue my law degree because of the bad name lawyers and other members of the law system due to stupid incidents such as this!
