Well I know most of us are children right now, playing on this website, but as we get older the gas prices tend to increase. I don't even want to think about how much gas is gonna be when I turn 20!
prices are soaring.my next sentence may not be accurate. i think it is becuz of the us currency has become lower and converting them to buy oil, a lot more money is needed and now it cost $120 for a barrel(us money i thnk) that's wat remained in my brain from the papers. THIS MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.for i am 14 and i dun know much bout this.
Hey King guess wat shut ur mouth because gas price s are increasing like relaly fast te minimum wages are only increasing little y litle and im not sitting around saiting for it to go up litle by little im coing to college. anyway i say that when we get liek 20 or at least when i do i will have to pay like 6 dollars a gallon or 6 dollars a pint as fast as these prices are going up hahahahaha

would you please work on grammar.. that is pathetic..
its not just a single factor causing the prices to go up, but a multitude of factors..
ethanol is hurting us a little too in my opinion.. its probably going to make prices on certain things go up, like the stuff they use to make it, its corn (right?) and ?. in arkansas some gas stations are using ethanol in their premium gas... doing 90% gas/10% ethanol.. shocked me the other day..
did anyone else see on the news how much money the oil companies made off a few cents that they add to the cost of gas.. ie it costs them around 2.75 (or so whatever figure you want to use) and they charge 2.78.. they made TONS! its been on the news here recently..
Um... so are you saying they make 3 cents a gallon? If so, that's very small. I know it adds up to a lot, but companies need profit to function. I see nothing wrong with profit. The money is used to pay employees, construction costs, researching new technologies, researching new ways to use fuel and increase fuel intake, and to pay for other costs. It's not like every penny is going to the executives. I'm not sure why people have such a problem with profits.
So? Everyone loves money so much. But it's evil when some big company makes a lot. Why is that? They are supplying a product that is needed. It is basic economics. In your utopia, everyone charges exactly what it costs to make a product. This world of yours is absurd and non-existent. Since the origins of Capitalism, every society that has rejected Capitalism has crumbled. Feudalism, Anarchism, Socialism, Communism have all failed because the systems don't work. Society runs on profits. Without their profits, you would not be buying that gas. You would be walking every where.
um the 3 cent profit you are thinking.. multiply that per gallon per car per person... my truck is 16ish gallons... so if it was only 3 cents, it would be about 48 cents.. they are making MILLIONS.. profits are fine. excessive profits not so.. they know people are hurting but they dont seem to be helping any..
You can broadly define businesses by their ethos: is their primary purpose to generate profit, or is it to provide a service?
I'd like to suggest that the latter: providing a service while incidentally generating profits, is more desirable than the former, profiteering whilst incidentally providing a service. The former provides much more incentive to providing actual service and efficiency increasing measures.
This is where competition comes in: competition tends to send companies towards increasing service quality. Profits per se are not evil, but it should be a major concern if profits are not somehow tied to quality.
For this to work, the consumers need to be informed: this is a necessary cornerstone of true capitalism. But in an age of information overload, who's to say that any customer is actually informed?
i just came back home and i went to the petrol station to fill up the tank.well,my sis*
i still remembered in the past when i'm 8,i'm 14 now. well, when i was around 8.the rpice for a full tank was 36++ my sis went to the station to fill up for $20 and the indicator shows only 1 bar more..there's 5 bars..
@shermzx you are only 14 so right now you aren't hurt by this.. im 20 and i am greatly hit by it.. im not saying younger people dont have to worry, but right now you dont have any reason to say "let me whine ... lol" even jesting you dont have much of a right to complain..
gas prices are going to affect all kinds of business, such as tourism.. who wants to drive when its $4/gallon.. but i think everyone knows this..
