I like to write but I feel I'm not very good. Sometimes I'll think of a great idea for a story and halfway through I'll decide I don't like it. It not only makes me mad, but slows me down. Any suggestions?

Solution 1: Write shorter stories.

Solution 2: Plan your stories. If you plan you will realize you don't like it before you start. Plan your stories down to the appearance of every character. It works.

I'm not a big fan of creative story writing but it is pretty easy to write a story with a good idea.

i had to wrote many short stories after readin books for my book reports. i think you should do one of the following:
1. just start writing. if your starting to dislike your idea then keep it up but slwoly change it.
2. instead of thinking about the whole story try to just think about an interesting ending and then go backwards.
3. or you can just think of a story you know (of games, books etc.) and write your own story of what you thought will happen in that story and didnt happen.

Remember, that EVERY SINGLE NOVEL/STORY starts as an idea.

Nothing you do is stupid... it's just a wip...

Plus... you don't to finish every thing you start.

Sometimes, I write stories and then don't got back to them until a year or two later... sometimes not at all. Believe in yourself... if you like what you are, and you put yourself in your stories like you're supposed to, then other people will like you and thus, your story.

I totally agree with CalvinDultrey. And be sure to only write what you understand and like. don't right about something you know noting about because then you will run out of ideas faster.

Iv been planing this story for like a year now, I have a notebook full of notes, but I don't want to scrap the whole halfway after I start writing, because that's what always happening! It bugs me half to death. How can I prevent this? Because I Really don't want to scrap my best story yet.

So don't. Come back to it after doing some research. The story can get a lot better the more you know about the topic. If your story is about mythology, read up. If your story is about sci-fi, see a scientist. If your story is historical, go to a muesum. There are lots of options.

Develop ideas in your head until you know you will like them, and you know they make sense. Don't quit halfway through any story no matter how bad it is, it will make you better.

All writers think their own work is bad.

My suggestions for you are to write all your things down into notepad, save them, create a thread on the AMW Forum, submit them all into your thread then let others critique your work.

Just write man. It doesn't have to elaborate or even make sense. Some of the best written stuff is pretty abstract and out there.
